Attractive setting, my site was nice. The canal was pretty - a few fishing boats floated by now and then.
Notes: No host, and I don't think the gate was locked at night. A few vehicles driving through late at night. Sites are fairly close to each other with no privacy. Water pump didn't have a handle; not sure if you just weren't supposed to use it or if it was missing, but you definitely need your own water.

Picture looks nice but this spot has no caretaker in October and without another camper in sight I made the decision to leave. Just has this creepy vibe. I would try it if I wasn't alone. Maybe with several bodyguards. Also signage into the campground is lacking.

Such a pleasant surprise! In the past, we biked on the C&O but never camped. This time around we were passing through the area and wanted to take a bike break. Camping at this site was great! Had a chance to stretch our legs on the trail, visit some historical sites and enjoy the river view. We'd definitely stay here again.

The cleanest portapotties I have encountered! I was a little put off at not having a real bathroom, but at least the portable toilets were well taken care of. The campground is a hidden gem, right off the water. My family enjoyed some light kayaking there. I gave one less star only because my fire pit was piled high with trash-beer cans, diapers, cold packs, cigarettes, etc. It was gross to clean out and I was surprised that the campground hadn't noticed it before our arrival. Despite the camp trash, I would definitely return.

Beautiful flat Campground on the banks of the Potomac River. Both Riverside and C and O canal side campsites. Online reservation system what is slow due to poor cellular service In the campground. No light pollution; we could see all the stars clearly In the campground. Mid-March, only two other campers on a Sunday night. Traversing the 10’3” tunnel in a 9’6” RV was a little harrowing with icicles hanging from the ceiling that had to be broken off in order to pass through. Well worth the $10 a night! We will come back again

Small campground right on the Potomac and the C&O. Camping in December I had the place to myself.
