Very quiet. Did some fishing. Pretty view of the Potomac river. Large campsites. Clean.

The Grass was not mowed and way too high - many ticks. The bathroom facilities were clean though, so that was nice.

There were also many people camping there with no reservations

One, the water pump had a handle removed, so there was no water source. Second, the mosquitos are pretty bad in this location.
At night and also in very early morning, there was a lot of vehicle traffic going in and out. It appears, that the lake access and the park attract all the local teenagers/youngsters.
Overall, I would not recommend this campground, even though the location is beautiful...

Boy Scout Troup 143 decided not to put the kids in the group campsite, rather putting them all across the road from us on a single site. The only reason I could think they would do this is the adults (who were in the group campsite) didn't want the kids near them. So we gotta to hear them. Please tell BS Troop 143 to put their group in the "group" campsite where it should be.

We spent a wonderful, quiet, dark night at Fifteen Mile Creek Campground. Sunrise on the canal, with the dramatic fog, was amazing. I met the owner of Bill's place, the bar/store in Little Orleans. He was super friendly and gave us tips of lookouts to go to, and we decided on Point Lookout ~ a must see! We spent an hour there at sunrise, watching the fog burn off, and it was one of the most spectacular sights we've ever seen! This is a hidden gem of a campground!

It's a great place to hike and get into the water if you're kayaking. Unfortunately, it seems the locals treat it as party central. We were kept up until past 1AM by a group that was loud, drunk and apparently trying to set themselves and/or the area on fire putting lighter fluid on their campfire (and spitting it onto the campfire). One of them apparently also vomited in one of the two "stalls" of the campsite's restrooms, rendering it useless. The fact is the group at campsite two was so completely inconsiderate of the rest of the campground, they made what could have been an awesome, relaxing weekend into a teeth-grinding ordeal. If you are lucky enough to not share the campground with a group like that, the hiking is awesome, and if the weather is warmer, the fishing usually is, too!

Myself and my stepfather booked side by side campsites for our families Friday - Sunday. When we got there, the sites were marked although not very clearly. Someone was staying in one of our campsites. We politely asked them to move and showed them our reservation and confirmed he was in our site. He obviously hadnt booked a site. The conversation ended with my wife and our family having to share our campsite with my parents who brought their RV because the person in the campsite we had clearly booked would not leave. There was no ranger at all anywhere at anytime. Also, some idiots revved their boats in the water at 5AM down at the boat ramp for several minutes. Another camper pulled into the adjacent spot of us and asked if our tent was on their booked site to which we replied no. Someone else who had clearly not paid and booked a spot was staying in their site. Its the Wild West at these places. They are beautiful places but its a free for all and there is no one to enforce anything. Im honestly surprised we had at least one of our campsites based on how many people it seemed didnt reserve and pay for their spot. On a positive note, we were able to paddle board quite a bit and saw a bald eagle on the river while doing so. It was a great place but it needs someone to enforce the rules. And no firewood anywhere and alcohol is not allowed. Come on, an adult should be able to enjoy a beer. I can say I wont go back but we had a good time.

The campsite is close to the river and that was nice to be able to walk back and forth for fishing. It is very close to the C&O Canal towpath which is great for walking. The campsite overall was kept up pretty well, no trash. But the grass was tall (ok, it was August, it happens!) and the latrines needed to be flushed or cleaned. Depending on the wind, we could smell the chemicals from the latrines in our tent. Not pleasant. I probably won't return to this campsite.
