Slow tour through cave down. No time to take pictures.

Spacious lots. Peaceful. Right next to Mammoth Cave. Has miles of hiking trails around it. Clean restrooms.

The bathrooms were clean. The camp spots were nicely spaced. It was awesome seeing fire flies. The camp ground is located in a beautiful wooded area.

My boyfriend and I booked a campsite very last minute due to our plans changing. The process of checking in and out was very easy. I appreciated the small convenient store located close to the campground. The entire campground was clean and well kept. I liked the spacing between each campsite as well. It was just the right amount of space away from our camping neighbors. We will definitely be back this summer to do more cave tours. We are specifically looking forward to the Violet City Lantern Tour.

Very clean campsite and amenities. Paved, level pads with picnic table and firepit. Check to see where the picnic table and firepit are in relation to your trailer/RV if you have one as our door/awning ended up on the wrong side. Definitely recommend the cave tours! Also, not sure if this is just a NP thing, but showers are only coin-operated.

We stayed in March of 2022. We had originally intended to camp in the backcountry, but fowl weather kept us local to the shelters. The campsite was kept well, tidy, and spacious. The bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen at a campground. Our stay was quite peaceful. What keeps this from being a five star review is the camp store. We wished it was better stocked. The park in general did not have good options for feminine products, which was very disappointing. We also wished there was better fire wood available, however, I understand there may be environmental benefits to sell the firewood alternative available at the camp store. Overall, a wonderful stay. Just get better period products in the store or have some handy in the ladies' rooms. Come on.

Biggest issue we had was not knowing the showers cost to use them. We had a good size group of kids and no coins. Campground was very clean. We arrived late so it was hard get oriented and finding our sites in the dark but we managed.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on the first night of our cross-country road trip. The check-in was easy and the person at the gate was very helpful. The campsites are nicely spaced and labeled clearly. It was a short walk to the caves and river, which we really liked because we only had one night there. The camp store had a lot of supplies and food and even decks of playing cards (we forgot ours at home). The park rangers made loops throughout the camp at least three times and that made us feel very safe. The other people around us were very respectful, friendly, and quiet when it started to get close to bedtime. The bathrooms were relatively close to our site, but the showers were attached to the camp store. Since it was our first night on the road, we didn’t need to take showers, but we did see that it was coin operated. Overall, we had a great experience here and felt very safe!

It was fantastic to be able to stay so close to the caves that we were able to walk to our tour time and then spend time above ground enjoying the variety of trails. My boys enjoyed the night bird ranger chat that was hosted at the amphitheater one of the our evenings.

The Mammoth Cave Campsite was one of the most organized and clean sites Ive camped at in the U.S. The park rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. We had no problem getting great advice on hikes in the area as well as specific information about Mammoth Cave and its complex history. Highly recommend this excellent National Park!

Go after Coronavirus so you can see more of the cave than what is open now.

Up arrival on a Friday about noon, I realized that campsite availability was doubtful on a weekend and yes, there were no available sites for Friday night or Saturday night, so I made reservations for Monday and Tuesday nights, asking to look at the site I had reserved at the gate entrance of the campground to confirm it was suitable. That is when I observed that every other campsite was roped off, that only every other campsite was unavailable, that the park was offering only half the campsites to visitors. I then visited the Visitor center where hundreds of people were milling around, waiting for their scheduled cave visit, or dinning or walking trails, or shopping, or using bathrooms, all of these activities far more closely associated to other people than camping in the campgrounds even without having half of them roped off. I was shocked. We had camped at other Wind Cave National Park where they had no camping restrictions, but the cave was closed, we had camped at state parks in several states and not seen camp ground restrictions, we had camped at a Corps of Engineers (Canal) campground the 2 nights prior in the LBL area and they had no sites closed, same with Forest Service Campgrounds. Campers that don't know each other don't intermix. Camping has been about the safest outdoor activity for the entire year and Mammoth Cave decides to limit half of it for safety, yet put together a cave tour where you could not avoid getting close to other people. Who ever came up with the idea of restricting the campground failed to use any common sense! Another example of federal regulations with lack of common sense!
