Wonderful, educational, and awe inspiring. Be sure to check out "Kentucky Down Under" near by.

No utility sink. I was told the bathroom sinks could be used. We tour many national parks and this park by far was the lowest of standings. No park for the kids. And the showers are metered which I understand. Trying to save water. But the falling apart rust bucket of the shower doors is a tetanus shot just waiting to happen.

We did two tours - The Frozen Niagara and The Grand Historical Tour. I would recommend these two in combination as they show very different parts of the cave. The Frozen Niagara is in an active portion of the cave, meaning that there is a lot of water and it is still forming. It is very decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, and draperies. The majority of Mammoth Cave does not look like this. The Grand Historical tour was long - 4 hours - but we entered the cave via the Historical Entrance and learned a lot about the history of the cave. We also saw a lot of portions that are covered on smaller, more narrowly focused tours.

The campground was quiet and peaceful, but the sites are not camper friendly and even iffy for tent camping. We had 1 day of rain while there and that left our picnic table and fire pit in standing water. The tent campers next door had to wade out of their tent that morning, and we saw many other sites in the same state. Our site was not level and required much adjustment to get our camper level enough to be stable. It also had the amenities on the opposite side that you would expect for a back in camper site, requiring you to either pull in or have to walk around your camper to get to the table and fire pit. This was not unique to our site, there were many sites set up this way, and I did not see a level parking pad at any site. They did offer coin op showers at the campground store, but they were quite dirty, and the amount of time the water took to heat up used most of the allowed time. Also, beware that the showers do not give a warning when time is running low, so the water just cuts out unexpectedly. In hindsight, I would have just either not showered, or used my camper shower. If I were to visit Mammoth Cave again, I would probably stay at a privately owned campground and drive to Mammoth Cave NP.

Lots of rain while visiting. Would like to return someday to enjoy the trails and experience the lodge and restaurant restoration.

Campground was very clean and peaceful. Loved the above ground trails and the rangers were very knowledgeable on the cave tour. My family had a blast!

Very quiet, level site, and loved hearing the sounds of peepers at night.

We've had wonderful experiences at the KY and IN state park campgrounds. This National Park campgroud was just okay. The bathrooms were clean, but it was hard to find the one that was open for our campsite. Also, there was no firewood available when we were there. That was a disappointment.
