This campground is really more about being a convenience for those taking the cave tours and not a good option for anyone interested in just hiking and without a bike. I was using it as a trial run for camping with my dog and it served that purpose but we had covered all the hiking trails by noon on the first full day. The showers are inconveniently located and expensive for only cold water. The security seemed minimal, as there is no identification required beyond the check-in and no tracking of vehicles coming in and out. There was significant heavy machinery noise starting quite early in the morning and continuous throughout the work day.

It was my first visit. I only stayed for one night. I plan on returning for a longer stay.

This is one of my favorite parks overall. Excellent bike path indeed, great canoe/kayak trips, caves are beyond amazing. We continue to go back over and over.

The campsites are close and there isn't a lot of privacy, but they are good size. We did one of the cave tours and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are pay showers and laundry facilities. The "firewood" sold at the camp store is not firewood at all, but compressed discs of wood shavings. It doesn't burn like regular firewood, so I would recommend buying some outside the park before coming. The bathrooms are typical campground bathrooms, not filthy, but a bit dirty and bugs sometimes running around. Lots of deer throughout the park and campground. About 20-25 mins away in Horse Cave KY is a kangaroo sanctuary that is a must see. It's a little price to get in, but there are usually Groupon offers. The NP itself doesn't offer a ton to do other than the cave tours and few very short hikes. The ice cream place in the park closes by 5 or 6pm even on the weekends.
