Great place to camp. We'll maintained bathrooms (showers are a bit pricey, but not horrible). Cave city is near by with anything and even you could want or need.

The sites are tucked away in a tall forest, generous in size, mostly level, and reasonably priced. Theres a mailbox, potable water to fill your tank, a coin shower and a laundry behind the store. The Ranger who checks you into the campground is super helpful. Highly recommend. I extended my stay by a day to enjoy the location.

We tent camped in site C-079 for 3 nights. The location was mostly level and accommodated 2 medium tents. There are a lot of trees throughout the campground and the Fall colors were beautiful. It was a short distance to the bathrooms which was appreciated by those in our group that needed to go in the middle of the night. The bathrooms were clean and well lit. There was not a large number of campers in the "C" loop which made our visit enjoyable and quiet. The area between the fire pit, picnic table and tent location had a large number of surface tree roots, considering the geology of the area this was to be expected, but it led to a significant tripping hazard especially at night. We arrived late in the day our first night and the camp store closed early, so we had to drive back towards town to purchase local firewood which turned out to be much better than the firewood alternative (pressed sawdust blocks) that the camp store had to offer. The most negative experience, especially for the children and young adults in our group, was the constant harassments by a large number of Eastern Yellow Jackets. They were not aggressive (probably due to the time of year), but from dawn to dusk they were in everything, food, drinks, tents, eyes, ears, noses, hair and cloths. Minus the Yellow Jackets, our stay was great.

Nice open campsites. Helpful friendly staff. We were able to find plenty of downed wood in the area for campfires.

The location was incredibly convenient, and these were the nicest campground restrooms we've ever seen.

As expected with our National Parks, Mammoth Cave is a spectacular experience! The Domes and Dripstones tour was thrilling and educational. The campground was super clean and tidy. My children even noticed that there were “no bugs!” in the restrooms. That’s some high praise. We’ll be back next year (:

My 10 year old son and I had our first camping trip at Mammoth Cave before heading back to school and it was awesome! We stayed in the Mammoth Cave Campground where the facilities were clean and modern, the sites were well kept and shady, the attendants were friendly and helpful, and the campground’s proximity to the Visitor Center, hiking trails, and Ranger talks was perfect for riding our bikes everywhere we wanted to go. The Visitor Center is beautiful with an impressive educational museum installation and Rangers are fully accessible in every department to answer all of guests’ questions and offer helpful advice. The cave tour was more informational and entertaining than we had imagined. We were inspired to explore more of the park and find hidden gems along the different trails like the beautiful Old Guide’s Cemetery and the Dixon Cave. We enjoyed nightly Ranger Talks in the amphitheater and were lucky enough to catch a meteor shower for our last night stargazing in a field surrounded by deer. It was magical! Our 3 days and nights in Mammoth Cave made for one of our favorite vacations we’ve ever had. We accomplished our modest goals of a National Passport Stamp, Junior Ranger assignments and badge, cave tour, and camp out, and added to that so much more education, fun, and valuable family time than we knew possible in one special place.

Nice campground! Quite a few campsites were taped off, but I wasn’t sure if it was because of Covid or not because one of the campsites right next to mine was also occupied. Campsites were well-marked. The bathrooms closest to my campsite were clean and well-maintained. I woke up in the mornings to woodpeckers which was cool.
