Old-school campground with basic unserviced campsites. Quiet, except for the occasional sound of generators. Site 55 is a pull thru, but recommend backing out, because big trees on both sides of the exit creates an awkward angle for turning. Lots of trees and shade so our solar was weaker. Weak cell, no wifi (unless you go to visitor center). The Visitor Center is 10 minute walk away. Access to nice trails right out of the campground. Great location for cave tours.

The facilities, cave tour and camping were all fantastic. I loved that I could hike trails, walk to the visitor center and to the tour starting point from the campground. All facilities were clean and well maintained. The cave tour and our guide was one of the best tours i have taken.

We love national parks. Stayed at Mammoth campground two nights. We were able to walk up to the camp store and the visitor center. We made a last-minute decision to take our grandson, so we were only able to do the self-guided tour.

The Historic Cave tour exceeded our expectations! We were able to see so many unique sections of the cave and our guide was amazing and informative! The Sunset Terrace room was comfortable and roomy. Overall, we had a 10/10 experience!

The staff were friendly and courteous. The campsite was fine for a primitive site, the shower room was so outdated and a little gross and the cost to take a shower was a bit ridiculous for the condition of the showers. I did not take a shower. I would suggest if you are going to charge for showers that you at least have updated clean facilities in order to do so.

Site didn't have electricity. Was not informed when speaking with RECREATION.gov agent. Asked to speak with agent after spending 30 minutes trying to use RECREATION.gov website to make reservation. At Park while taking with campground host I was stung by a wasp. With more wasps flying around I was attempting to talk with campground host (who was inside) while I was standing outside. Host did not offer shelter from wasps. I abandoned conversation. It was late afternoon. Host said his shift was over in 10 minutes. Nearest possible alternative campsites were 30 miles away.

You need to make a reservation far ahead for a campsite with hookups. We had a good site without hookups for two nights. We were able to get one of the last 2 reserved sites three weeks before our trip.

This was an amazing trip. I had never been camping before and the campgrounds were beautiful and spacious. Pre-scheduling tours is a must, but if you show up to the visitor center early they might add on tours for the day. The trails were beautiful and well kept. The self guided discovery tour is also great, and if you line it up to be in -between the historical tour times it feels like you have the whole cave to yourself.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
