The port-a-johns are very clean. The sites are a little close to each other. Its a very pretty area. Would camp there again

I loved it at Houchin Ferry. Driving in made you feel like you were leaving everything behind. The area along the river was gorgeous. The picnic tables were good and sturdy. The campsites were a good size. The area was nice and clean. It was the perfect place to stay on our wintery trip to Mammoth Cave. Do take note, this is primitive camping. There was nothing there but our tent site, picnic table, and fire pit. But don't worry, Bucee's clean bathrooms are only 20 minutes away

I enjoyed my experience at the Houchin campground; it was (almost) empty while I was there, so it was quiet, which is precisely what I was looking for.

I did not realize this campground was disconnected from the main area of the park. Its a good, quiet place if you only plan on only sleeping there and being gone the rest of the day. Probably the most private option. The shelter was nice but very dirty so bring wipes. Also no host or visitor center so if you need a worker youll have to drive 20 minutes to the visitor center (I never needed anyone though).

The sites are very close together but great for a quick overnight stay before seeing the cave. Campsite #8 was a good one.

I was the only person camping the night I was there. It got down to -4F, so I wasn't surprised. The gate was closed when I arrived, as the road had some snow left on it, but the park manager had called earlier in the day to make sure I was still coming, and a ranger showed up and opened it for me.The sites are mostly level, but there isn't much privacy between them. Port-a-potties present, but frozen over when I was there. There's also a street light that stays on all night, but no outlet for campers to use.

Fantastic spot! Secluded and right on the river. We did a Canoe trip and spent the night here. I was surprised at how clean the port-a-johns were. Thank you for having TP too!

Spaces are a little tight but it was quiet when I was there. Few random visitors in the night, came down did a burnout then left. Loud mall walkers in the morning doing their morning hike through the sites.

The tent camping was like a group camp out with too small sites.

Decent campsite right next to the river. Had a table and campfire ring at the site. Would be difficult to park more than 1 car at any campsite

Quiet campground in December. Nice campsites. They were a little close together, so I can imagine if the campground was full it could feel crowded. There is water, but it was yellow/orange. Maybe it was potable and just full of rust or minerals, but I was glad I had a water filter along, and I filtered the water before drinking it.

Great little place. Bring light, dark on a whole other level once the sun goes down.
