Overall this campground is much quieter than the others in Acadia albeit much further away from the main attractions of the park. The facilities were nice, updated and clean. We stayed at a walk in site, thinking based on the description that it wouldnt be too bad. The site was accessed by a super narrow path, we had to duck and bushwhack to get back in there. The path was treacherous for what we expected to be a little more maintained, and turned into a puddly stream in the rain. It wasnt easy at night. Oddly enough the trail wound all the way back around towards the parking lot so a much better path couldve been made. The site itself was not presented very accurately either. There was a pad for a small tent (expected) but no room for the picnic table aside from the location where it was wedged half in the trees. If you had more than 2 people the site would be too tight. There are critter lockers in the site for storing food. The main campground is pretty open feeling (trees but not dense canopy, wide open sky) but back in the walk in area the trees were insanely dense like intentionally designed that way but lots of deadhead trees that were spooky and dangerous. If you stay here I do not recommend a walk in site unless youre really into staying very secluded. But the main campground seems enjoyable and quiet.

We loved our hike-in site!

We stayed at one of the hike-in campsites. It was just far enough to be secluded from the rest of the campgrounds while still being close to the bathrooms. Facilities were incredibly clean! I like how they have a slop sink outside the bathrooms for washing dishes. The bear boxes were also super efficient and helpful for storing our food right at the tent site! Even though it's not on the main island of Acadia, there was still plenty of hiking and tide pooling to keep us busy the week that we stayed there. Note: there are no showers and bathing is not allowed at the sinks; There are two water refill sites at the RV dump station, one of which is for drinking water so we were able to refill our canteens there.

Well laid out camp sites, clean modern bathrooms, and gorgeous hiking and views as you drive around the peninsula. We will definitely return.

Unfortunately it rained almost the whole time, so we couldn’t experience much. We had trouble finding certain trails (could use much better and more frequent markers) and the rangers were extremely rude and unhelpful. This could be because I went at the very beginning on the season, however their unprofessionalism was still disheartening. It was also disappointing that though we did hike-in, we still needed to use our car to go to the wash station, bathroom, and hiking trails, so we couldn’t completely unplug.
