Ill caveat by saying I know the site is clearly labeled hike-in. I dont think it was quite clear just how much of a hike it really is. I measured it at 0.3 miles from the parking lot to the campsite. That is all up a fairly meaningful hill, on one of the worst kept trails Ive ever hiked on. Rocks and tree roots throughout the trail, with thick brush and trees encroaching in making it difficult to carry anything up to the campsite. It wasnt really clear why it was so far away, either, as we passed several small clearings along the way. The campsite itself is plenty nicealbeit pretty mouse-infestedbut it probably isnt a place I would stay if I didnt have lightweight stuff in a backpacking pack.

I arrived at the ranger station after hours but I was able to locate my campsite easily enough. The facilities were adequate and the campsite was very enjoyable. My checkout was simple and the staff at the ranger station were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again in the future.

Schoodic woods is a great quiet part of Acadia.
