we had an absolutely amazing time at the group sites. the sites were clean upon arrival and Michael and Punky were immensely helpful in making our stay a great one. they were super attentive to trash and bathrooms and welcomed us with open hearts and friendly smiles. can't thank them enough for helping us create an incredible event.

The camp host at Plaskett creek (the guy with the Pug dog) was super nice.

Camp hosts were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The pit toilet bathroom in our group site was cleaned and they also made rounds in the evening with bundles of firewood. The hiway 1 closure from the north made it less crowded. We had a great time.

My biggest issue was the toilets at the group sites. The regular camp sites have flush toilets but the group sites have pit toilets. Although inside the restroom was clean they smelled like they hadnt been cleared out for many many months. We stayed at GS2 and GS1 was just below us. Each site had their own pit toilets but unfortunately as the wind blew up the hill towards our site we often got this horrible smell of their toilets. This was a huge downer because the time we wanted to spend at the camp site, we had to also smell shit wafting in the breeze. Thats why I only give my review a Good rating Instead of Excellent. Im happy we had a nice big Santa Maria grill, fire pit, plenty of tables (all in good shape), and drinkable water on site! That made me really happy because the website said to bring all your own drinking water. The attendants were super chill and friendly. Fire wood was expensive but I brought all my own wood. Neighbors were quiet and we couldnt really hear the other campers at the regular sites. There was poison oak everywhere as well so we had to keep a close eye out for dogs and children. No showers on site so be prepared if you want to rinse off. We brought a little portable shower head pump which worked just fine. Also the camp site had pretty much no flat ground so all of our tents were slammed downhill towards GS1. I think thats all hahah what a fun time we had going to Sand Dollar and grilling up together. Till next time or maybe not if they dont clean out those dang toilets.

It was a beautiful place, very close to the beach and very quiet at night. Everyone was very friendly. Big surfer camp. Poison Oak is everywhere, know how to identify it and stay on the trails.

I am a foreigner traveling for several months around the world. We camped in 6 national parks and their state campgrounds for 3 weeks this summer and all went well until I made the mistake of booking this campground which at first seemed great to me My first mistake was to book a group site (at $150) without realizing it because I thought that the prices in the area were much higher than in the national parks (by studying other campsites the prices were higher). Then, our GPS took us as always following the directions of the recration.gov application to our location. I had doubts about this location but we did not find anyone the same evening or the next morning to confirm that we were in the right place. So we left to discover the Monterrey aquarium, leaving our camp. We had a problem with our car in Monterrey which required us to spend the night there. Coming back the following day at the end of the day, our tent had disappeared... We took a good hour to find a guard to get an explanation. We were in the wrong location and they had to move our tent to make room for people who had booked at this location. We were dropped our tent with our bulk bags in it at our site (at $150\night) for a group when we are a family of 3. We left the next day with no regrets. My opinion on this campsite is that everything seemed vague to me, whereas everything was very clear in the 6 other state campsites that I was able to do with my family. Lastly, I found the staff rude. They look like thugs out of an old 80s B series Aside from our last bad camping experience in the American West, the campsite is quite nice with a view of the sea for group sites at $150, if you have the means, don't hesitate...

Our experience at Plaskett Campground was amazing. This was our first time camping here and in Big Sur in general, so we were not sure what to expect. We were new to the area and lucky to have such a great campsite host Adri.Adri told us all the beautiful sights and places to see. She was very courteous by saying hi when she was performing her rounds and continuously asked if we needed anything. We have camped in many locations in California and other cities, we have not received this type of treatment in a long time. Thank you for the great experience and we look forward to visiting the campsite in the fall.

Its a beautiful campsite, but its very poorly maintained. We were in one of the group sites, and the smell from the pit toilets which are placed in the middle of the group sites was quite overwhelming. Not only that but someone forgot to unlock the toilets. Further, there was a fire ban throughout the site, which made no sense because there had been recent rains. Camping in December, after there had been rain, its really nice to have a fire and very cold without one.

I brought my class of 6th graders here so that we could go to the Big Sur Jade Fest. We were very happy with our stay at Plaskett Creek. We were close enough to walk to the festival and the kids were able to walk to the beach a few times. I highly recommend this spot!
