One of the best campgrounds on the Pacific Coast. The best on Big Sur. Staff are taking good care of guests and facilities. Not for big rigs.

This Campground host works tirelessly cleaning up after people who leave an astonishing amount of trash (yes I'm talking to you guy that unboxed a grill and left the whole box rather than taking it back home with you). He also has to work really hard to clean up after the raccoons when people don't put away their food or keep lids on trash. Be sure to have your dog treated for ticks before you come up here. Bring your levelers if you are on the inner loop sleeping in an RV or van. Plan on dumping and getting water at San Simeon; the water system at Plaskett Creek was down the other day and the faucet over by 12 and 13 at Plaskett with the threads on it is shut off was shut off earlier this summer even when the water was working. Be sure to spend as much money as you can in these communities that have been impacted by the road closure. The Taffy at Linn's in Cambria was fantastic and the prepared foods at the food grocery store down there were really great.

Kirk Creek Campground is an absolute gem. The views alone are worth the tripperched right on the bluff, you get sweeping, unobstructed ocean panoramas that take your breath away. The campground is small and peaceful, which made for a quiet, relaxing stay. It was incredibly easy to get in and out, and everything felt very accessible. Our kids had a blast riding their bikes around the campground loopits just the right size for them to feel independent but still safe. The hikes nearby were out of this world, with stunning coastal scenery that made every step feel like an adventure. What really surprised me, though, was how magical it feltlike stepping into a Disney movie. There were rabbits hopping through the wildflowers, birds singing in the trees, and wildlife all around. It added this whimsical, enchanted vibe to the whole experience. The bathrooms were also pretty clean, which was a nice bonus. If youre looking for a serene spot with unforgettable views, amazing hiking, and a family-friendly vibe, Kirk Creek delivers. Were already dreaming about going back.

I've been wanting to visit this park since I grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains as a child. So hard to get in. We slinked into probably a canceled week. When we arrived we were able to get a slightly more level and massively awesome site. There was barely anyone here which I can't understand and is a travesty. Why are people not canceling so others can reserve? Come on ppl! We hiked the Vincente Flat / Kirk Creek trail across the street - what views! Hiked 3 miles to a great overlook before it turned inland. 1 downed tree that was somewhat difficult to get around. We also had the Pacific Valley Bluff Trail (look for the fire station) to ourselves. We also went to Limekiln which was fabulous since it had a lot of redwood trees and my husband got to see his first banana slug. Forgot to mention - do the campground's beach at low tide for tidepooling (check the tide charts before you leave - there's no cell). Saw 3 huge starfish and 1 huge crab.

Unbelievable site! Some cute little raccoons visited at night, would just always throw your trash out before you head to bed.

Was a wonderful trip. Our site was big and beautiful. Although the terrain was for unstable for me with a bad knee...super hard to navigate.

This is a beautiful campground. Every space has an amazing ocean view. The camp hosts were very nice. Watch out for ticks and poison oak!! That was the only downside.

We've visited this campground over a period of fifty years (when we can get to it! i.e. road closures, etc.) I've traveled all over and still think this is one of the most amazing spots on the planet - especially at sunset. There have been many changes to the campground over the years - it would be nice to have water back, but then again maybe that ensures that those who stay there are committed to the beauty over convenience. The current hosts, KC and her partner (sorry, didn't get his name...) are extremely conscientious with regard to the upkeep the campground and facilities. Although there are only vault toilets, they keep them as clean as they can be - servicing them at least twice daily. The hosts are readily available and keep excellent watch over the campground. This is a very special place!

The campground hosts were very helpful. When they went to town to restock their groceries the maintenance guy filled in and was equally as helpful. The sites arent very large with just a few that could accommodate an RV up to 30. Most sites were fairly level and could accommodate small trailers or RVs under 25. Mostly grass around our site in October 2022.

Beautiful view of the ocean and the coastline. I went in the spring and we had grass to camp on and the wildflowers were blooming. Every spot seems to have an amazing ocean view from my strolls around the campsite. Bathrooms were super clean and always well stocked.Things to note:You get zero service from about 30 mins before to another 45 mins or so afterwards. Be prepared that you will not get that same nature experience because you can here the other campers.. while each spot feels secluded due to great foliage its definitely a packed area. You have to pack out all your trash, there are no dumping sites.

I love Kirk Creek. Leading with the cons because I want to leave you thinking of the pros.
CONS: No water. No cell service (or is this a con?). Pit/Vault toilets - slight smell. Spots by the road can have a bit of road noise. Some burrowing wildlife so watch your camping spot for holes. Spots are not large so be mindful if you have a large trailer.
PROS: THE VIEW. The majority of the spots are pretty secluded from each other so even if you have a neighbor in the next spot, you have a bit of privacy. No cell service. The toilet facilities were clean. There are some trash containers here - maintained very well by park. This is a very peaceful place to camp and the view of the sunset was amazing.

We loved camping at Kirkcreek Campground. The view of the Ocean and the beautiful sunsets were amazing. We saw some dolphins and whales at a distance from our campsite. We went for get some R&R and we truly got it here. There is no water so take water. Take all your camping needs and you will be just fine. There is a store at Gorda a few miles up Hwy 1 in case you forgot something. We love this campground! :)We really got enjoyed some needed R&R here.
