Beautiful, beautiful!

Campground has an amazing view of the ocean. However, the facilities could be better kept. The bathrooms were not cleaned as often as other places have stayed. Also animals were getting into the trash cans and creating a mess. It didnt seem like the campground l was making an effort to keep the animals out of the receptacles.

Best campground!

Stunning view, spacious campsites with fire pit and picnic table, and friendly camp hosts who are very visible and work hard, including trash pickups from each site and firewood delivery! So lucky that this campground is still open while so much on Big Sur is not. It's pricey for dry camping with a pit toilet, but the view is worth every penny.

I love Kirk Creek Campground...beautiful spot, and extra peaceful with the road blocked a few miles away.Alas some trails were overgrown/undermaintained, including the beach access right at the campground and the Mill Creek Trail, both with lots of poison oak. But the campsites are very nice.

Absolutely the most amazing campground ever. The only issue is the reservation system, which is not pacific time zone friendly.

Beautiful location!! Not really a bad site in the campground. Just know you’ll likely be surrounded by poison oak, and also lots of raccoons at dusk. They were harmless, just more of a nuisance.

The location can’t be beat! Million dollar views!

Pretty expensive at $35 a night for just pit toilets, but it’s all about location, location, location. Our site (21) was huge! We could have easily fit 2-3 tents on the grassy area and another car on the pavement.

We had bunnies that lived at our site and the highlight of our trip was catching an owl swooping down in the dark trying to catch a gopher!

Unfortunately, nearby Limekiln SP’s trails are still closed, but they will start clearing them July 15th.

The views are incredible/stunning/priceless and our campsite (22) was outstanding with a large grassy area and fairly level driveway. The staff is very friendly and maintains the park well.

The main challenge is the abundant poison oak. It's all over the campsite and campgrounds. Make sure you know how to identify it and what to do if you come into contact with it.

5 star campground. The views are spectacular on the drive there, and when we arrived and saw the campground we got such a giddy feeling in our stomachs. Absolutely recommend staying here if you can get a reservation (we got a cancellation for 2 different spots a week in advance).
Here's our top shares:
Directions:
Google maps is still giving incorrect directions, if you are coming from the north, you must go down to Paso Robles and then cut across on 46. Highway 1 has a section above the campground that is closed until about early summer.
Hiking:
The trails directly across from campsite is still closed due to the fire and rockslides. Camp host told me that they have trailblazers coming in every 2 weeks, but it might take a while to reopen for safety. Limekiln also closed for hiking, possibly will open in April. We drove 17 miles south to the Salmon Creek Ranger station area, and did a gorgeous hike there instead.
Facilities:
I'm sure you've read no water is available on site. We brought a 7 gallon aqua-tainer (Amazon) for handwashing and dishes, and large gallon jugs for drinking, more than enough. The bathrooms were decent, although they ran out of toilet paper more than once. We always bring tp camping so we were prepared for that.
Site:
We stayed at 21 and 8, one night each.. LOVE both. Sites on cliff are obviously better, and a couple by the highway side (high 20s) would not have been big enough for our tent.
General:
It was really windy the first day, like our tent would have blown away if we hadn't put all our heavy stuff in there. It was a fun adventure ?? so if the weather is hinting at a storm, Absolutely bring tent stakes and confidence.
The hike down to the beach was awesome, yoy go down about 100 feet by a creek to a large rocky beach. We had so much fun finding a cave to explore and enjoying the cove. The trail is overgrown in areas, and there was poison oak, but we avoided it. Be cautious on trail if not very fit.

I have stayed in campsites all over the United States and I would have to say that this was possibly the nicest of all. An idyllic setting on a majestic coastline. Sites spaced far enough apart to give a sense of privacy. Spectacular views from your camp !
