Katie and James were great hosts! I ended up locking myself out of my car and they were able to help me get in contact with triple A and figure it out. Amazing campsite. Clean bathrooms and the trash was tidy.

Great views of the ocean. Friendly camp hosts. Clean and quiet campsite. Lots of wildlife. We saw owls, foxes and a nightly gaze of trash pandas will climb on your car and belongings so keep everything packed tight and away if you dont want a mess each morning. They didnt bother us in the ground tent but if you have a roof tent prepare to be inspected by a dozen of those garbage pirates.

Amazing view! Last spot on the ocean bluff side so it was nice and private. We only experienced one raccoon visitor that one night we stayed. Spot 22 is the best spot, rooftop tent or ground tent, youll have an beautiful of the ocean.

The site has a major raccoon problem. The reason for that is their trash routine stinks. I dont understand why they cant afford trash bins with locking tops, the campsite is not a cheap place to stay. Also, why no water? The hiking trails near Kirk Creek are exposed, no shade and tons of poison oak everywhere.Big Sur is overrated and overcrowded .Pretty much done with that place! -back to the Sierras. The beaches were very nice though!

Amazing place to camp. The sunset views are incredible. The beach access is a little overrun but navigable. One of the best places Ive pitched my tent.

Gophers. Bunnies. Birds. And raccoons! Site 22 was a dream. When we arrived, there were people in our site when our reservation started. Was not fun to see after driving 4-5 hours with two kids and all you wanna do is set up camp and cook. Camp site hosts were really nice and let them know. All was well after that. Lady bugs everywhere, was fun for the kids to catch them. Poison oak, so watch out.

An amazing experience, one of the most beautiful place to camp in California.

Due to rockslide on Hwy 1 wasn't able to get to the campsite. We were just 30 mins away from the campsite coming from socal had to turn around and stay somewhere else for the night.

Beautiful site, however, I got there late due to weather and someone took my spot. Hard to park at night since it's pitch dark.

Been to a lot places but this has become one of my favorite. Stayed at site 22 and loved every bit of it.

Beautiful location to rest and disconnect. The camp host Ryan was really helpful and the campground looks well maintained.
Can’t wait to visit again.

We've stayed at Kirk Creek twice and each time it was absolute paradise! Our stay this time included a fairly persistent marine layer, but that is part of the ambience of the Big Sur coastline. Sadly, a tragedy occurred while there; we drove into Lucia to buy ice on our 3rd day there, only to discover the historic Lucia Lodge had burned down during the previous night. We had to drive 25 miles north, up to the community of Big Sur, to buy ice at the market there. I've heard that the market attached to Lucia Lodge was not damaged and hopefully it has reopened in case you need to pick up a few essentials. I'm counting the days until we can return to this idyllic campground.

The campground was in poor shape. My site (and many others) had not been mowed and over half of my site was unusable due to tall grasses and weeds with poison oak sprouting up in camp around the rocks. The oceanside campsites were overgrown with poison oak and shrubs and have lost their direct view from the camp. When there are narrow paths to the ocean bluff side, they are full of poison oak. The path to the beach had been opened but was currently overgrown with poison oak in places. Restroom floors weren't clean, they also need repainting. Hosts are friendly and go out of their way to help, but haven't enough staff for proper maintenance. A major reduction in shrubbery and poison oak is needed to restore the oceanside sites to their historic openings for access to the views. Walk-in site 5 still had eucalyptus overhanging the fire pit, which I reported two years ago. I reported it to the Nat'l Forest Fire Chief. Overall the management of Kirk Creek has gone downhill year by year since taken over by PMC. Hosts are there just a few months and go on. There is no "institutional memory" of how it should look and be cared for. Instead there are increasing numbers of rules which make it difficult for the public such as having to come back at 2 PM to get a walk-in campsite. Or not able to check in with reservations before 3 PM when the site has been vacated. Yet simple notices like : "keep bathroom doors closed and toilet lids shut" are no longer posted. The rule against emptying personal toilet buckets is understandable given problems with abuse. However, it already has unintended (I hope) consequences of people dumping their overnight containers in the bushes around their campsites as well as observing (guys) urinating in the shrubbery. This needs to be handled in a different way. Furthermore, there is no large supply of water to fight an oversize campfire such as I've seen often. Need a nonpotable tank on the grounds such as used to be a Molera.

Recreation.gov automatically cancelled this reservation as campsite was closed Due to Covid, which you should know before sending this form questionnaire. This location is almost impossible to book, it took me 4 weeks and I was lucky to get the best site. I asked to have it moved out rather than cancelled but was not allowed. I think all persons who were canceled like myself should be placed on a priority to rebook the SAME site they had rather than having to “duke it out’ all over again with the rest of humanity. This would be the fairest approach for all.
