Booked a campsite, and I could not even put a tent on it. The ground was extremely uneven and overgrown. There was no trees or shade near my campground. I needed up having to find a different campground outside the park.

The campground itself is great but please note that the trailer length is not accurate. I saw a review stating this and they said their 24' trailer wouldn't fit, so I thought we would be fine. We have a 12' teardrop and we really had to do some finagling to get it and our truck in. Along with that, there are bear boxes since you're in bear country but no where to dispose of dishwater. We were unsure of what to do so we drove to the North campground and dumped it there since they have a sink.

Lassen National Park is awesome, even after the extensive fire damage. However, we were extremely disappointed in our campsite in the South Summit Lake campground. We have a travel trailer that is 22 ft from bumper to hitch. We had site D11 that was described as being 24 feet long. It wasnt possible to get our trailer into this site. Basically the loop is backwards, so the angle of the space makes it impossible to back in. Even if we could have somehow managed that, there was no room for our slide out or awning or our truck. We found someone in the North campground who also couldnt get in to their space, and we stayed there for 2 nights, but then had to leave. The descriptions on these campsites are NOT ACCURATE !

Rangers stopped by and said hello and provided warning on the bear situation. Had no problems, the site was very clean, the bathrooms well kept up, had some cell service. All my neighbors were nice. I stayed in A05 and the site was pretty nice and felt private. Great experience and will come again.

Our spot was close to the summit trail for our morning embarkment. In the evening, we enjoyed the short walk to the lake trail and watched the sun set over the mountain. Even though there were other campers close by it felt like our spot was secluded. Close to bathrooms and trash cans as well. I can't wait to reserve the same spot this year!
