Parking pads not level enough for a small RV but otherwise wonderful! Lake, hikes, and star gazing phenomenal!

We stayed in C Loop, and the sites are ROUGH. Most are either so small they can barely fit a small hatchback, or they are so uneven that if you are staying in a camper of some sort, you'll need some serious levelers. The views of the lake are lovely, but without water or dump, combined with the less than ideal sites, we would much prefer to stay at Manzanita Lake and drive to other areas of the park.

The view of the lake was beautiful. The campground was quiet - no generators or barking dogs. Loved it.

We stayed at Summit Lake South (loop c) for a 1 night getaway from San Francisco in Late July! This was one of the most beautiful campgrounds I have been too. Nestled under big shady trees right on a small lake, it was very picturesque. There are potable water faucets in between all of the campsites and the toilets were pretty clean. Bear box, table and fire-pit with grate were all provided as well. You are able to swim in the lake which was great because there are no showers :) and there is a nice trail around the lake for that leads to some larger hikes. Nights do get cold so bring some extra firewood!Overall I would recommend and would stay here again!

We were disappointed by several aspects of our campsites (C10 and C11 at Summit Lake South in Lassen Volcanic National Park). They were rather small, somewhat exposed, half covered with coarse mulch that makes for an uncomfortable place to stake a tent, and worst of all, they were quite sloped, so it was difficult to find good spots to pitch our tents. How hard would it be to grade the sites so that there are level areas suitable for tents? Everyone in our party felt let down by this, and person slept in her car. The sites weren't horrible; there was a fire ring, the water spigot nearby worked, and the adjacent restrooms only occasionally smelled bad. But we don't feel we got our money's worth.
