Great camp spot with lots of room. Furthest from the store and lake but still a short walk all things considered.Would stay in same spot again.Love the campgrounds that have a little infrastructure to them. Not too much, just right.

Very spacious sites, felt secluded even though the campsite was fully booked when we were there. Clean, simple bathrooms with a very nice camp store and very easy access to Manzanita Lake. Will definitely stay again!

All park personnel, from the entrance gate to the store to the camp host are stellar. When it is not busy in the store, staff members are fun to talk with and they are very informative about such things as good hiking routes and locations where a cell phone signal might be detected. The camp host was very helpful in finding a camp spot on a drop-in basis. He was knowledgeable about patterns of partially full and full campgrounds and he had a good (correct as it turns out) assessment of weather. The ranger at the gate recommended a feature of the volcanic terrain several miles distant from the park proper. This reviewer went there and found the feature, a lava tube, to be quite amazing. It is definitely worth a return visit.

The campground is real gem. We stayed in the "tent only" area, which was wonderfully peaceful. This part of the campground doesn't have water taps, though. The only slight downside to being early in the season was the campground store was not stocked well and the cafe was not open. That was always a nice treat with the kids and I hope it comes back. We had a great time. There might be benefit to clearly telling campers why they should not pick up and burn branches on the forest floor. Many folks will think it makes sense to pick up and use downed wood as a way to clear forest fire fuel.

Great campground! We stayed in the D loop (tent only) - the sites are well spaced out and the ones on the outside are particularly quiet. Bathrooms are centrally located in each loop and were very clean. There are a few good longer trails leaving from the campground if you don't or can't drive to other parts of the park. The best one is a shorter loop around Manzanita Lake. It's an easy 1.5 miles and the views, sunsets and birdwatching on the lake are amazing. We saw a bald eagle out fishing every evening. There is a camp store, showers and laundry... but not when we were there. Technically it was already peak season (the week before memorial day), but the store was shuttered and there was also no information posted about when it would open or what it's hours would bee when it did - I wish they could have been clearer on opening days/times. If you're visiting during shoulder season, stock up before coming to the park.
