Campground and facilities were good. We like that the toilets have lights and are flushed toilets. The hike around the lake was good with awesome views! However the second half of the hike was challenging as the trail from the park entrance booth via visitor center/museum back to boat ramp was not well marked nor obvious.

Very large campsites with trees to hang hammocks. Several bathrooms, garbage, and recycle bins. Nice outdoor sink to clean dishes. Camp store is just a short walk away. Manzanita Lake is right there with multiple entry beaches to the lake, picnic tables, and tons of birds and fish. Highly recommend hiking Bumpass Hell.

Park generally clean. Hosts and park staff were active in ensuring people followed rules, things were clean and everything worked. Two issues:1) the site we were put on was probably the worst weve ever had. We have a small teardrop trailer (less than 13 ft). The site turned out to be essentially on the shoulder of the road. We could (and did) push our trailer onto the ground area (its very light) so we werent in the traffic and headlight way but were told this is not allowed. So we moved back to the road; might as well have parked on the highway. Frankly, this site may make sense for a 27 ft Airstream but its absurd for a 13 foot teardrop that one man can push around.2) Firewood at $15 was absurd. Not surprisingly, the majority of campers brought their own wood. In most parks, this is not allowed due to fear of spreading tree pests. It would be better for the park, and for visitors, to charge more reasonable costs for firewood, and enforce the no firewood from outside the area rules strictly.
