Unfortunately we couldnt stay due to the air quality higher then 250 because of the Park Fire. We couldnt find a motel ether and finally we ended up another campsite outside of the park at 2:00 am.

While we were at Manzanita Lake, for 4 days, we did not see the campground hosts or rangers once! The bathrooms were disgusting, brown water bubbling from floor vents, no lights, no faucets in some cases! Access to water was much more limited than in the past, we had to collect water from the wash sink at the bathrooms which was also dirty and gross! The campground store had bare shelves and non existent service. Showers cost $5 and the stalls were filthy. The campsites themselves seemed poorly maintained, crowded together and badly set up. In our campsite, B30, the bear box was set in the blazing sun, with zero shade, about 20 feet away from the picnic table. The table itself also had no shade and was stuck between some baby trees and tripping hazard rocks. We have camped at Manzanita Lake for many years and I was very disappointed by the star of the campground. The park itself is as beautiful as ever! The lakes are all full, the butterflies and wildflowers were popping out everywhere! But, we also saw plenty of campers behaving badly, worst of which were the dogs splashing and fetching IN the lake and off leash on the trails around it.

So great! Large sites, clean bathrooms, laundry facilities, cafe/gift shop, showers. Just a great campsite to enjoy Manzanita Lake or the greater Lassen Volcanic National Park. We will be back for sure.

Great location. We stayed in a B31 and it has a lot of space. Need to drive to the lake if you want to launch a kayak.
