We really enjoy Butte Lake. With funding cuts and the later camp season, we did not see a ranger the whole time we were there (parts of five days though we weren't in the campsite the whole time). We did see maintenance though. We had our camp reservation but it wasn't attached to the post like it often is when arriving to a site. That was not a problem fortunately. It would have been helpful have been able to see a list of other sites that were still available if we wanted to change sites. Also a camp host would have been helpful. We did enjoy our stay though and did not have any problems with our site. Thank you.

The sites were clean and the grounds were maintained. Overall the camping experience was great. The road in is absolutely terrible which make coming and going a real pain. And the zero access to water also makes things like putting out camp fires difficult.

People come in here late afternoon and can be very noisy setting up, even playing loud music after dark.

We hiked lassen peak and the cinder cone. Saw a bear cub on the way to snag lake and a deer near our camp site. Our tent site was not as flat as i would have liked (B52). No water due to low lake level. We were given plenty of warningbringing our own water wasnt bad at all. Very clean quiet campground. Will stay again.but at a different (flat) site!

Wonderful Crews keeping trash picked up from the bear bins and keeping the restrooms clean. The views from Cinder Cone and Prospect Peak are spectacular and Butte Lake is a wonderful location to cool off and take a swim in the Summer. Prospect Peak is also a volcano and cinder cone in its own right, just bigger and older. Its broad circular top provides a wandering panorama of the entire park and in its shallow center is a plethora of wildlife and flora.

Great location right near the lake and the cinder cone trailhead.
