The area is really beautiful. When I arrived, I parked my car next to the camping bench and I didnt realize you couldnt do that. There is no sign or instructions stating that. So when I woke up after my first night there a park worker, an older gentleman woke me up from my tent at 8 AM, and instead of saying good morning and engaging me or in introducing himself, just threatened me with a ticket, but I didnt park my car on the gravel. Of course I was nice about it and said yes, sir and apologized. He said he was gonna be back in 20 minutes to check on me to make sure I did it, but he never came back. I was in space B 45. Another thing that was unfortunate. It was the constant smell of the vault toilets. Just seems like they needed to be emptied in every 30 minutes to an hour. I got a huge stench from those toilets. Other than that, the camping trip was great. Its really unfortunate that you dont allow dogs to hike on trails, but I understand the rules and I respect them.

Campsite is nice, but a little crowded. Bathrooms and sink in the A sites were closed part of the time which was an inconvenience.

Wonderful campground that is right next to Butte Lake and the memorable Cinder Cone trail. Although this campground is further from the bulk of Lassen's primary attractions than Manzanita campgrounds are, my husband and I really enjoyed it. Half shaded, large pull-through parking, bear boxes, picnic tables, fire pits. Few big trees in actual campsites to hang up hammocks.
