This site was next to A-30 which we had also reserved, but A-30 was closed by park staff due to hazardous trees. We had planned to use both sites for a family event, but had to only use A-29. Site is large with lots of trees, but rather exposed to afternoon full sun. Water available at the restroom areas and flush toilets functional. NPS staff clean restrooms and trash daily. No host or ranger present. Lake is great.

Campground was clean and located near lots of trails. Cinder cone is a very steep hike but a great view, highly recommend for active individuals. Hiking around the lake is also gorgeous but must be attentive and cautious as we saw multiple bears and cubs on the trails.

After driving for 4 hrs, we reach the unpaved road to the campground. What no one said it was 7 miles of washboard road. It was so bad I could only go about 10pm the entire time. Finally reach the campground and drive up to the sites I reserved a month in advanced and 2 of the 5 have yellow caution tape. They moved the 2 sites about 10 sites away. No email or text or call. They emailed us twice to remind us about the reservation and my wife called them to confirm everything the week of, and they said everything was good to go. I reserved 5 sites together because we had family coming. 3 of our kids and 8 grandchildren, 2 sets of grandparents and a brother in law all from 3 different states. So after about a day of back and forth, cause there was a small hill between the 3 sites at the top and the 2 at the bottom. We abandoned the 3 sites and all stayed on the 2 sites because they were bigger. No one to explain, no camp host. First and last time there. Wasted money and time.

Park layout is a little difficult, making for a lot of driving from this Campground. But relative quiet of the lake and the cinder cone hike are worthwhile.
