Well taken care of good amenities in the way of bathrooms, potable water, etc. Large campground but did not feel overly crowded. Would certainly recommend a visit if traveling through Lassen.

The campsite was quiet, close to the lake, and not too close to other sites. The restrooms were flush toilets and kept clean, but they have no lights which is great because you can stargaze without impediment from light. The lake seemed a little low in water but plenty of people were swimming. It was very relaxing.

6 miles of dirt road requires some patience but well worth it to see the Cinder Cone, lake and Lava beds.

Smoke plume caused us not to camp at Buute Lake. We did do a hike out to Cinder Cone, but could not enjoy the beautiful scenery due to smoke.
