We were at site 100. Its a picturesque site for the scenery and offers good privacy. The campsite did have a slope to it with bedrock popping out at key spots which made it a bit uncomforable for our 10-person tent. half the tent was at a slope and the airbed kept slipping to the edges of the tent and the occupants were bunching up a bit during the night. The bathrooms were not clean but that is sort of expected in a public campground. Be warned, one of the restrooms had a door (the main door to the mens restrooms) that would not open from the inside! I do not know why. I had to ask for a passing camper to open the door from the outside to let me out. The rangers and the surrounding store and restaurants were good.

We spent three nights at campsite 81 and really enjoyed it. Except for all the yellow-jackets when you try to eat outside during the day, but that's standard for summer. On the north side of the site there is a rise and some big boulders that give you a bit of seclusion. And on the west side there is a great, expansive view. One thing about that view: at night, you can see the San Joaquin Valley all lit up. I was pretty surprised the first night when I saw it. We didn't mind, it was actually kind of pretty. And it didn't seem to diminish the night sky, we still had great stargazing. But if you're looking to "get away from it all," this might not be the ideal campsite for you. The lights aren't visible unless you walk to the edge of the site and stand on a couple of large rocks--and I don't think you can see anything at all during the day. Once you've noticed it, though, you're definitely aware that civilization is still out there. Overall: good site, nice campground, no crowd at all mid-week. Short walk to the village if you need supplies or feel like a hamburger; also to the NPS visitors center and the General Grant tree. Some cell service with Verizon.

Easy to access. Campsites were spaced out a little and still maintained an outdoor experience.
