Amazing campground with a bona fide Sunset view! If you camp close to the rim, you get an incredible nighttime view as well of the valley cities below. Sunset is really close to the Grant Grove and its proximity makes the campground a great choice for people wanting a Big Tree Grove experience. I would definitely go back.

We had a great time and enjoyed our stay, but I'll say that whether you enjoy your stay is going to be VERY dependent on which site you get and whether you get good neighbors. I honestly don't want to say which are the good one's because I am selfish and don't want them to always be booked, but look at the map and you get a pretty good sense of what is going on. But also... it's a bit of give and take because the I prefer to have as much privacy as possible, but that also means further from bathroom, water, and dish cleaning station. With that being said, the general store around the corner has pretty much everything you might need at a relatively reasonable price is nice, so don't stress about bring everything. If they don't have it, one of the general stores at lake Hume or Lodgepole will have it, even if it's a tent, sleeping bag, or sweater. They all have flush toilettes as well if you aren't a fan of the pit toilets. Also, Don't buy firewood. Just bring a hatchet. Bringing firewood is like bringing sand to the beach. There is sooooo much deadfall, you'll have no trouble finding what you need. Last thing... If you have what you need to do dispersed camping, there are lots of free dispersed sights on the road to Big Meadow Campground, but because it's about 2,000 feet higher, you'll have to contend with colder temps and snow later into the season.
