The campsite was quiet and spacious. The ranger was very accommodating when we saw the original campsite we booked and asked to be assigned to a different one because our pickup truck wouldn't fit well at the first sight. We also appreciated the rangers coming around frequently to check for any bear activity.

This is a small campsite, the trees and bushes around it give it a lot of privacy, it's perfect if you're just going as a couple, if you're bringing children with you it's better to look for a larger campsite like 53 or 56. We went as a couple so it was perfect, we didn't need more space, we loved it. As for the bathrooms, they're relatively close. There are plenty of logs around if you need firewood.

Awesome campsite! Right across from the Cedar Grove Village with showers, market, and restaurant. Nearby many great hikes in Kings Canyon as well as Boyden Cave (highly recommend!)

We loved our stay here. Our site was not very level for our tent trailer and the asphalt was broken and missing in the back park of site which made one wheel ( down slope side) have to be up on a lot of blocks, but we made it work. Our site backed to the meadow however the brush is chest to head high at edge of site so you really couldnt see it well. The site is pretty private though which we loved. Sites by the river are the best imo.

Sentinel was clean, quiet, and a great substitute when not boone-docking/disperse camping in the national forest. I'm grateful to the family I bumped into at the ranger station because I had no idea I could call to book on the same day and wasn't sure where I'd be hunkering down.Although big rigs can get through Sentinel it seemed a bit tight so go gingerly. There appeared to be many families enjoying their stay, having campfires, sharing stories, Mayberry type of stuff.Food lockers, garbage cans were clean and well maintained. People with dogs were courteous and following the rules which made dog interactions enjoyable, indeed. The gentleman who was on patrol was kind and full of useful advice which helped me figure out my plans for my next stop.

The campsite was very good, but the ban on wood campfires and the drifting smoke from wildfires dampened the experience. I enjoyed hikes in Zumwalt Meadows, the River Trail, and Bubbs Creek. The hike up the Hotel Creek Trail to the Outlook over the canyon was marred by the burned landscape and downed trees from the 2015 fire. I was disappointed that the ranger-led hikes and talks ended before I arrived in mid September. Still Cedar Grove, the campsites, and the Kings River are the places I've returned to again and again due to the beauty and quiet of the canyon.

Amazing campground. We were on site 55 and let me tell you, the view every morning was amazing. We left our tent facing the meadow and it was wonderful. My wife and I enjoyed our time here.
