Lodgepole campground is at the center of all the top attractions throughout Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Shuttles will take you to many popular locations like General Sherman and the Crescent Meadow so you can avoid parking during crowded hours. Dont skip Hume lake and other great parts of Kings Canyon, though it is an hour drive it worth it! The highlight of this trip was the crystal caves, I was in pure amazement the entire time. Our tour guide was truly amazing and passionate about the caves which made it even better. Lastly, dont miss the Huckleberry ice cream at the Lodgepole gift shop after a long hike!

Great campsite ! Booked it in a last minute opening and got a great spot that backed right into the river. Heard a bear in the area but didnt see it, and had a ranger say they had been in the area that morning. Pay showers are $1.00 to start and that gives your three minutes. A quarter gives you more time. Theres a visitors center, ice cream, store, and deli style restaurant there as well. We enjoyed the Tokpah Falls hike which was an easy 4 mile out and back hike to a beautiful falls thats trailhead is right in the campgrounds.

We had a 24 ft RV in site 163. It was nice, near the river and had lots of space. This loop of the campground was nice, although it was fairly busy. It was handy that the shuttle stop was nearby, however, not to the campground's fault, this administration's budget cuts decreased the shuttle service by about 60% so they weren't running as often, and when they were they were very full and sometimes too full to let anyone else on. The drivers were very understanding of the frustrations. Please stand behind our National Parks!

We caught Lodgepole campground on a bad day. That said, we'll stay here again. The area is gorgeous!

The bad:
The winter storms thrashed the bathrooms and caused leaks that haven't yet been repaired. The bathrooms were a mess due to a leaking toilet that caused a muddy slick floor. There was a nearly full porta potty available for those who weren't willing to trek into the mess.

The not-so-great:
The trashes filled during our long weekend stay, meaning people would set their trash beside the can. Not smart in bear country- the rangers should have a plan for moving trash to ensure this doesn't happen.

The good:
Running water and hand soap!
Shuttle service right across the bridge.
Hike to the waterfall right from the campground.
Despite the rushing river, there was a little stream by camp sites 165, 163 that the kids could wade in.
Quiet, respectful neighbors.
