Amazing location, Tokopa Valley starts right at the campsite! Lodgepole Village made the camping trip super easy with a store, showers, and a cafeteria. Also, its a very easy drive or shuttle ride to all the major attractions - General Sherman, Moro Rock, Crescent Meadow, and Crystal Cave. Site has a good amount of space as well, but shade is somewhat sparse.

It was a great place, October is a great time if you want to avoid the crowds but something to look into during this time is that a lot of the facilities are closed because it is off season. We stayed at the tent and RV site, for the RV site usually there is a noise curfew for the generators but someone had theirs on the entire night. Our spot was next to the river so it was super relaxing to hear that, the place was clean, except the bathrooms. The sink area to wash the bins smelled so bad we couldnt stay in there for very long, we ended up washing our dishes at the next camping spot at a different park. No bears when we were there and we stayed in the middle of October. It was cold, no ice or anything, thank goodness lol checking in and out was super easy and quick. The rangers were nice and knowledgeable! Overall a great experience for it being our first time there.

Our tent is 9 1/2 x 13 so I had concern if it would fit in the 9 x 22 tent pad area. We were able to set it up right behind the bear box which was level & a bit wider area. We were lucky as the whole time we camped the weather was perfect, not a cloud anywhere. Quite chilly / cold after the sun sets through mid morning or so. At times, I wore several wool layers, a hoodie jacket, fingerless gloves. Warmer daytimes than the weatherman had predicted so thin cotton cargo pants & short sleeves. A 5 minute walk to the showers ($1 for quick shower, $2 to also quickly wash hair), store, deli & visitor center were open. Small 7 pound bag of ice costs $6.00 which is enough to top off a large cooler full of food. We bought 1 box firewood, milk, postcards. Post office building was closed possibly permanently. All areas of the campground had dead or unstable trees that had been cut down, so lots of fallen logs. Still a lot of trees & many young trees. This site had the cutest marmot showing his head from several of his many holes. From our camp site, we saw a mama deer & her newborn spotted fawn as we looked across the road & on the other side of the river. The couple next door in site 48 saw a bear across from their area. Blue jay, woodpecker, squirrel & chipmunk all seen at our site. Not many insects but the meat bees give you a hard time especially when cooking meat. They do not sting but quite pesky at times. You're like flailing your arms around while trying to eat. Recommend some sort of picnic table canopy net or repellant. You'll need poles to use along with trees if you want to put up a tarp for shade or shelter from rain. The bear box stayed relatively cool with a smaller tarp laid over it as it is mostly in the sun. Amphitheater shows on weekends. Giant Forest museum was really good. Overall many things were upgraded with expanded exhibits, many new things in various buildings I've previously mentioned. (I was there 4 years ago.) Some maintenance in progress.

This site was near other sites with not that much privacy. Not my 1st choice, but RV sites have limited options

Reservations are a pain. But camping experience was nice as usual.

Quiet Site, lots of Space, Riverside, Clean, Lots of Firewood nearby
met 3 Rangers on duty who were all cheerful, helpful, smiling, welcoming
Toilet facilities were in good shape, not hotel quality but clean, soap and tissues were plenty available. no Showers though.
Stayed 4 nights, warm days, very cold low-mid 30s from 10 pm to mornings :)
Visited Sherman Tree and lots of Giant Sequoia trail, Tokopah Falls, Moro rock ( twice, once for the sunset)), little Baldy trail and its panoramic views. Allocated half a day to drive to Grant Tree, then to Hume lake first before continuing on to Cedar Grove for a close by look see of the winding Kings
River
If you really really really must have some internet access .... drive out of Lodgepole, turn right and go past Wuksachi village for a couple of miles, look for a large off ramp with a trash bin on the left side ... you will get 1 or 2 bars lucky at times :))

One Special Request to those who read this review: if you book a camp site and for any reason can't come for any part of your trip, do please cancel even one night so someone else can get a spot. There were at least 30% of sites sitting empty during my 4 nights stay (the rangers had no option but to turn people away).

Enjoy Lodgepole everyone
