Lodgepole is a massive and well-developed campground with pretty much every amenity an NPS campground could provide, including drive-in campsites, water spigots, flush toilets, a market, showers, and a shuttle. The campground follows a river, which is refreshing for a dip when hot out. We stayed for 2 weekend nights in upper loop, 142 Fri night and 143 Sat night. An extra bear box allowed us to stash our food and start our day before the tenants of our next site had checked out (checkout/in time is noon). 142 is a small site on a loop. The tent pad was small but very flat, just fit our 2x 2p backpacking tents. We caught a fair amount of noise at night from the rest of the loop. 143 is next door but right off the road rather than on the loop, so it only really catches noise from 144, with which it shares a large open area. 143/144 would make great joint campsites if you're looking for adjacent sites isolated from other sites. 143 is a very large site with a sizeable but sloped tent pad. There were logs and trees for potentially hanging clothes to dry or a hammock. Bizarrely our very heavy picnic table was placed directly on the tent pad, but we were able to lift it with the combined power of us 4 people. Bathrooms in upper loop were clean but dark (use a headlamp at night), and had limited counterspace for toiletries.

Sequoia is fantastic! We stayed in site 142, August 8 to 12. Decent site; good size, semi shaded (in the morning and late afternoon, otherwise full sun), right next to trash cans, farther away from restrooms, somewhat close to the river, farther from the shuttle pick up, very large tent pad, no trees for a hammock. Lots of bear activity! Pretty much every day. Just keep a clean site and keep anything with a smell in the provided bear lockers. The market at the campground entrance had a lot of different stuff, from food to equipment to souvenirs. The cafe, showers and laundry were closed for the season, although that was ok by me. Lodgepole in general has a lot of sites that are stacked on top of each other. Unfortunately, that seems to be the norm nowadays. Lots of little swimming holes along the river, and hiking trails starting in camp.

Been coming here for over 10 years.... Love every visit. For the first time I stayed in the upper loop and let me say the bear activity was intense at night. And being with first time campers and kids, that was the only downfall. A dip in the river is highly recommended!

The campground is wonderful! We had a mess up where we had a reservation but someone was in our site. The camp hosts were able to get us in another site.

We had Site 142 and thought it was a great site. It was a lot bigger than a lot of sites. Not too far from the river. We walked to the Tokopah Falls Trail and drove a couple miles to the Lakes Trail. Showers and other facilities are still not open. Only the store is open.

We loved this site. Close to many sites and trailheads. Having the general store so close was convenient too. Would definitely stay again.
