Bathrooms Zero Stars!!!! The most disgusting bathrooms I have ever experienced camping in a national park campsite!Outside of this the location was amazing and well worth the drive. Be mindful of the altitude if coming from sea level as 2 in our party felt altitude sick the first day.

Beautiful campground next to the river, nestled into a valley. The campground is immense and some parts can be way more crowded than others. We rode the shuttle around - which was convenient. It is a quiet year (summer 2023) so although the campground was packed, the amount of people wandering in the park was minimal and the experience seeing the sequoias all by ourselves was mystical.

We got campsite #166 near the river and enjoyed the sounds of the water at night. Bears were pretty active at this campsite so make sure to put all items that have a scent into the bear box. Lodgepole is situated in between the popular attractions at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park which makes it easy to see both parks in a short amount of time. We would definitely stay at this campsite again.
