Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was because there were so many yellow jackets that we were unable to sit/eat outside. Other than that, the campground was great. Centrally located for major sites. There was a nice hike to the waterfall directly from the campground and nightly ranger talks each evening which we thoroughly enjoyed. The campground was clean and quiet. There is a dump and potable water available. There is also a very nice visitors center and market with food service. Highly recommended.

I visited 17 National Parks this summer and Sequoia N.P. was definitely one of the highlights! The park is stunning and so well organized. I entered the park from the south at the Foothills entrance and was able to take my time exploring and hiking as I made my way along the scenic drive north. Lodgepole C.G. was a perfect halfway point to stay the night so that I had another full day to explore the rest of the park before heading to Kings Canyon. I really enjoyed the high altitude (6,720') and the scenery at Lodgepole. The trees are scattered about giving shade if it's hot and also providing a bit of privacy so you don't feel like you're just parked in a lot (which is the case in may campgrounds I experienced this summer). I'm in a campervan and there were plenty of options for nice, level parking. The bathrooms were clean and the camp felt very safe which is important for single female travelers!
