The park was well cared for considering the reduction of NPS staff. We did miss having the kids involved with the Ranger activities, but we made the best of what we had. The main concern with the reduction of staff was the smaller presence in the campground, leading to multiple campfires being left unattended and not fully put out when the campers left for the day. We personally put out three unattended campfires in the three days we were there. Beyond that the showers were pretty nasty, but that's on the concession vendor staff.Overall, we loved out time at Lodgepole and plan on coming back when the NPS staff return in full force.

Very green this year due to wet winter, but some trails (e.g., Clover Creek, Tokopah Falls) were blocked by down trees, streams flowing down the trail, and remaining snow, so check before departing.

Do not reserve #184 it is not a campsite! It is a space they crammed in to try and get extra money filled with big rocks and laid down trees with no room for any tents or chairs or anything. The fire ring is in the middle of a pile of rocks so can't sit around it. Driveway parking is not big enough for two cars as advertised. That is not a campsite.WAY TOO MUCH BEAR ACTIVITY, this campground is not safe and the rangers don't even care or try to scare them off and keep them at a distance. Bears have multiple tags (Yes we are in there home) but they get way to close to people and campsites and don't startle off easily as they should. They come out before sun down and stay til after sun up. Some rangers finally had to come with shotguns to scare off three bears in a campsite because they alwere getting aggressive and stubborn and not leaving. Don't bother with car alarms or banging pots and pans, it doesn't work to scare them off. Don't expect to get any sleep with the bears knocking over dumpsters all night every night echoing through the campground. (Could maybe secure those). Be prepared to try and scare them off constantly and POTECT yourself as well. (Also bear spray is technically not allowed in Sequoia... Use that info how you wish)

One of the prettiest campsites Ive been to! Ranger was very nice and helpful, bear food storage bins provided at every tent site, fire pits had cooking grated attached, River and amazing scenery and close to restaurants and store, as well as hiking trails.

It was a beautiful trip. Hiked Tokopah Falls (the falls were a disappointment) so you don't need to go all the way to the end. But everything before that was great! General Sherman Tree was great too. Those trees were amazing. ..though going uphill sucked. Our neighbors car alarm went off 6 times. They couldn't figure it out. It went off twice at 6am. Idiots. Overall, it was a great trip!
