Rest rooms were dirty the 3 days we were there. Also generator noise was so loud one evening we had to leave camp. The park needs more generator free camping zones.

I arrived after dark so did not formally check-in, but a ranger comes round each morning, and they were able to give me my check-in paperwork with my provided registration info. I did not get a map, but I assume you could get one at the ranger booth where they are normally given out in National Parks. I had no trouble finding my spot in the dark. There is a posted map of the campsites as well as good signage directing you to different site numbers.

This is a nice, scenic campground nestled in a small valley with lots on either side of a small river. There is apparently good fishing here, but I visited late August so the water level was "barely any", and certainly no fish around. There are lodgepole pines of course, white fir, and other trees among the many large boulders, so it should not be hard to find a shady spot for your tent. Restrooms are centrally located, and a little rustic, but have actual plumbing and are still much better than you find in most campgrounds. There are plenty of critters around so don't leave food laying outside of your immediate reach. It's not just bears you have to worry about. Many chipmunks, Steller's Jays, and other birds will come round especially near breakfast time.

Location is excellent, probably one of the best in the whole park. There is a gift-shop/small grocery and a visitor's center near the campground entrance. It's an ideal location if you plan to visit the General Sherman tree and the rest of the Giant Forest, as they are a few minutes drive away. For alternatives to driving, There's also a walking trail from the campground to the Sherman Tree area that I believe is only a couple of miles, as well as a shuttle bus that you can take there and to other points of interest in the park. It stops near the visitor's center in the campground. The short hike to Tokopah falls also starts from this campground, and other trailheads are not far from here.
