Got the chance to camp out at Lodgepole site 49 which was a great location. It sits toward an edge of the loop, with the river running across the road from the site. There is decent space between neighboring tent sites, especially since the tent pad, pick nick table and bear box are sitting atop a low mound/hill while the parking spot sits lower on actual ground level. Pros and cons with that set up, especially for larger tents or a large group since there is a slight slope to the tent pad. that wasn't a problem for my single tent. Bathrooms and water are available nearby for camp sites and within walking distance, the visitor center and market have more restrooms, coin op laundry and basic showers - bring sandals because showers are not the best maintained. The market has a restaurant, and convenience store type shopping. The visitor center has a small gift shop, park exhibits and very helpful and friendly rangers answering your every question. Also, the market and visitor centers are one of the few spots in the entire park that get any type of signal, free WiFi is available. The campground is close enough to the most recognized and therefore, more "touristy" parts of Sequoia within a short hike or short drive so it tends to be pretty crowded. Overall, probably the best campground for a comfortable, not so out-in-the-wild camping experience.

Very beautiful campsite; lots of towering views in the foreground with a slightly hilly campground made for a bit more privacy. There were several trees recently cut down around our site. Only complaint was the bathrooms seemed far and crowded.

Our spot was the best possible spot in our loop! Saw a few bears but never got dangerous. Bear box was working and clean. FIRE PIT NEEDS REPLACING. But overall amazing! Good trees and big rocks to hang around

Beautiful area, but the valley filled with smoke from all of the campfires and it was difficult to breathe overnight.

Great location but you should expect a lot of people close around you at all times.

Had a wonderful time in lodgepole. With the shuttle it is easy to reach the main hikes in Sequoia and grasp the magnificence of the trees. We also (day-)hiked to Twin Lake which provided very impressive scenery after a though hike. Also: make sure to visit one of the ranger talks as the one we visited was very good and educational, must do if you’re there!

Unfortunately, not all facilities at Lodgepole are currently available: the visitor center, laundry and shower were closed due to covid. Whilst we knew this beforehand we feel that this is currently a poor excuse as such facilities are available at other parks and campgrounds.

In addition to that the dump station was closed in the middle of summer due to renovations. Again, we knew this beforehand, but it seems like bad planning to close such facilities during high season.

Campground is centrally located with easy access to many of the hiking trails for day hiking as well as the visitor center and Giant Forest Museum

Had a wonderful experience. The camp is situated in a central location where you can easily hop on a bus and get to popular hiking destinations. A lot of deer walking through camp, we did not see any bear though.
