I especially like the campsites south of the river which extend along its banks and give more campers direct access.

Lodgepole Campground was located in a very beautiful spot. At around 6000 feet, the nature is more green and the air is cooler which is enjoyable especially in the summer. I have stayed at a campground that was near the entrance and it doesnt compare to this one. I liked that it was next to the river and the noise was pleasing. I would like to point out that some camp sites had more room for a tent and generally moving around than others. Site 115 didnt have as much room and seemed smaller compared to others. Bathrooms were relatively close and clean as well as stocked on supplies. There were also water fountains to wash or get water, not for drinking though. The starting point to hike to the waterfall was also close which was a bonus. Will definitely come back to this campground.

We went camping early September and found it very cold: the 2000m altitude make a big difference! Bathrooms were very basic, and in 2023 there were no showers anywhere in the park. We got a lot of noise from a group of campers next to us. The park itself is beautiful and the campground is in a good location to explore it all.

We were at site 115. We arrived after dark. There is no signage for this site anywhere along the road. We had to send someone out on foot to find the site. We struggled to determine where our parking stall was located, and made our best guess.

The site is up a steep incline from the road to the campsite with no real trail (at least none that we could see in the dark with headlamps). Don't plan on bringing anything heavy to your campsite.

The site I had was at higher elevation. It made it hard to load and unload our vehicle. I also felt as if all campsites are kind of cramped. Very little space between sites. There were sites above, below and adjacent. Too many people, especially with covid being an issue.
