This was my second time camping at this campground and the views of this site never disappoint. It was easy to find our campsite and the bear locker had more than enough space for us to store our scented items and food for two people. The campground was well-maintained and also along the river, which you can swim in the small pools of water during the summertime. There's a market at the entrance of the campground, which is convenient if you forget any camping necessities. The Visitor Center was informative and also newly renovated. The rangers and staff were super friendly and helpful anytime we interacted with them. The campground is about a 5 min drive from the General Sherman and a 20 min drive from Moro Rock and Crescent Meadows. The only con was that the bathrooms were slightly dirty, but I honestly wasn't expecting it to be pristine either since we are camping. Overall, the views and location of the campground make the entire camping experience worth it!

This review has nothing to do with the natural park itself - the trees, geology, and wildlife are beautiful and a must-see.The facilities were probably the worst Ive ever stayed in. First, when we arrived in the mid-afternoon no one was there to check us into the campground. We walked over to the visitor center and asked them what the check in process was and they had no idea. We stayed there for three days and never had contact with a camp host or any administrator. The website says that the campground has showers available. When we arrived, all of the showers were locked and had signs that said they were closed for the season. They looked like they had been closed for months. I understand the water is shut off if the pipes freeze, but we went in August - there was no excuse. This was disappointing as Lodgepole is one of the only campgrounds in the park that has showers and we chose it for this reason.Overall, the facilities were the most disgusting Ive ever been in. Usually campground bathrooms are cleaned at least once a day. When we arrived it was clear the bathrooms had not been cleaned at all for days, if not weeks. The floors and toilet were covered in urine, feces, trash, and dirty underwear. The sinks were coated in a layer of brown grime. The bathrooms were so filthy that I opted to brush my teeth outside instead.I would love to visit the sequoias again but unfortunately the state of the facilities will make me think twice. It felt like I was visiting a third world country.
