Lodgepole Campground is in a great location for exploring the two main attractions of Sequoia National Park - the Sherman tree area and the wider Giant Forest. We spent four nights there and hiked many of the trails. There's a gas station at Stoney Creek and many good trails in Sequoia National Forest along the Generals Highway going north to Kings Canyon. It's about 45 minutes to an hour to the King's Canyon area. The campground is relatively large and the amenities are good. We used the dump station and water fill, which worked out great. We stayed in two different sites with a 24 foot trailer: 184 and 27. The loop with 184 was wooded and lovely, and our site backed up to hill with boulders. However, it did not have a 24 foot driveway as indicated. It was 18 feet at best, just long enough for a truck. We had to park in the area that was meant for tents. I wouldn't recommend that loop for any trailers as all sites are short and the curves are tight with boulders and trees on the sides to navigate. We moved to site 27, which is in a section closer to the front that is more open, less wooded. The site length was great and it worked out well for solar. A potential downside of #27 is that the amphitheater is adjacent to the site. For us, it worked out as there weren't any programs running. To enter the park and get to the campground with a trailer or RV over 22 feet, be sure to go in the 180/Big Stump entrance that brings you into Kings Canyon.

Showers were unavailable anywhere and two of the bathrooms were closed for the season - so we were told to drive to the closest one (also at night).
