Overall this was an excellent stay for our first family camping experience. Site 064 has some open space on one side and a neighboring site on the other. Beautiful trees and mountain backdrop the site. I chose this spot for it's proximity to the restrooms. I liked our location- close enough to the stream but it felt like we had privacy and didn't have passersby coming right by our site the whole time. The downside to our spot is that this particular restroom is at the shuttle stop and at the giant parking lot for day visitors. So come Saturday and Sunday the bathrooms were totally trashed and gross and devoid of TP and soap. The bathroom was not cleaned on Saturday but it was cleaned midday on Sunday. A ranger told me an outside company is contracted to clean the restrooms everyday. The park rangers were friendly, knowledgeable and personable. I didn't know they hosted evening lectures on various topics. We loved the talk on owls. I did like the closeness to the market (10 min walk) but bc day visitors made the bathrooms gross I might consider a different site at Lodgepole next time. If I was able to do most of my stay on weekdays I would- to have smaller crowds. One note- if you bring a table cover. The picnic table at this spot is 8 feet long and the benches are 6 feet long. We were treated to deer passing by, and on our last morning a doe and buck with beautiful antlers came through our site. The free and convenient shuttles take you to the hot locations. Much easier than parking. There's a cool hike from General Sherman to Lodgepole.

Everything was great, within walking distance. Shuttles come super early if you wanna hit the trails! Only thing i absolutely hated was the bathrooms and the showers, both were so disgusting, I dont know how theyre not cleaned DAILY.

Great location and beautiful scenery. The booking system is a bit of a hassle and availability is limited (we had to switch campsites within Lodgepole several times throughout our stay). Also, the cell phone signal isn't very reliable and booking is only online so be prepared.
