The trees, the mountains, the riverthis campground is absolutely beautiful! There were trails and activities for the whole family toddlers to grandparents. Facilities were well maintained. We swam in the river, hiked the trail alongside it, took the shuttle to the General Sherman Tree and the Big Trees Trail (my favorite!). One morning we watched a black bear walk through the nearby foothills while we ate breakfast. Grounds were quiet at night. Thunderstorms hit each afternoon. The campground market has a fabulous collection of souvenirs. Showers and laundry are not in service this season. We will definitely be back!

Location was perfect! Close to the restroom, water spigot, and Tokopah Falls trailhead. Spigot was a few campsites to the east -- however, it was a little weird because you had to walk into someone's campsite to use it.The neighboring campsites are not terribly close -- you'll feel you still have some privacy. There's a hike-in campsite up the hill behind this one, so there'll be some light foot traffic by this campsite. Otherwise, we barely noticed the uphill campers. When we stayed, it was fairly quiet. The party campers were farther away down the hill by the river. The designated tent area is pretty big -- we were able to squeeze two tents (one being 8' x 10'). However, there is only one parking spot shaded by an enormous rock. The nearby river makes for great white noise as you fall asleep. Be prepared for a lot of wildlife activity. We saw deer and a bear on separate occasions.

I would give 5 star but both the visitor center and the showers were closed. Everything else was wondering.
