Great access to Kings Canyon sights. Site 38 has no level area unless youre at the bottom of a gully between a few trees. I would not recommend this campsite

Loved the campground, rating 4 stars for a couple minor points. This campsite has a shared parking lot with the neighboring campsite and I dont think thats super obvious to everyone, could do with better signage or advertising. The lot is also a little slanted, including the spot youd pitch your tent, but by the second night we didnt notice the slanting. Of all the campsites in Azalea, this one is a little further from the bathrooms BUT it probably is one of the best sites for stargazing since youre mostly in a clearing. Loved our weekend here!!! Rangers were friendly and helpful, the general store is super close by, and we liked being able to walk 10 minutes to the grove so we could enjoy it outside the busy hours.

Camp site was on a steep slope, no way to level the picnic table. Tent site was level.

Azalea campground is great! But campsite 38 was not pleasant. Its not flat at all, theres a couple small flat spots to place your tent. But the table and the campfire are all on a hill. Also there isnt much shade.

Rec.gov never mentioned that the site I booked shared a parking spot with the adjacent site. Then, to add insult to injury the camp host had the audacity to complain about how I ended up having to park. Will not return, and I use Rec.gov even less now due to its utter unreliability.

I reserved site no.38. I have a small class B RV 20 feet. Unable to stay on site, it was a hill. This campground should be close for renovation. It is the worst campground of the National Park. For RV users do not camp there. It is a shame for National Parks.

Campsite #38 should not be considered as a camping site. The terrain is not flat, and there is only enough parking space for 1 compact car, although the information from the park website indicates a space for two vehicles.
