Our site was very steep to back into but once settled in we had a wonderful view of the water. It was peaceful. The dump station is in an very inconvenient location in the campground and on a slant, not sure how anyone could fully empty their tank. But I'm sure folks have been doing it for years.

I wouldn't recommend bringing anything longer than 25-30ft to this campground. Site 15 has a pretty serious grade to it. While backing in, we almost bottomed out our rear stabilizer on a 25' BH travel trailer. Had to remove weight distribution trunions to drop the front end an inch or two to clear. You can tell quite a few people have gouged the drive. The dump station is situated at the top of a pretty large hill that you have to go all the way to the boat ramp and then turn around and go all the way back to access. Not much clearance on drivers side to clear the ditch that runs along side the drive.I'm not sure we'll go back but someone with a smaller camper would have a much better experience. In addition to poor directional signage, they have no firewood at the campground. I was told to go to Kroger.

Need to have gates closed (not locked) at a certain time to help with security. Non-campers driving through at night.

This campground has NO signage to indicated there is a campground at the bottom of a very steep hill. The only sign warned that the road ended in the water. We got to the bottom of the hill and only saw a boat ramp, so we turned around and went back up the steep hill to try to figure out where we might have made a wrong turn. Maps kept indicting that the campground was down the hill so we finally decided it must be past the boat ramp, so we traveled back down the very steep hill and that time noticed a travel trailer up ahead. A little bit farther we found the place to check in. The volunteer seemed VERY amused that we had had trouble finding the campground. We then proceeded to our camp site (#15) only to find that not only did we need to back up a very steep hill but also had to curve around while backing to miss hitting a wall. The driveway started out asphalt but turned to gravel halfway up into the spot - hard on a transmission trying to back uphill on loose gravel. The view was wonderful - the only redeeming thing about this campground.
Been camping here my whole life. As always I enjoyed the beautiful views and access to Lake Cumberland! Unfortunately though it’s not perfect. They have closed some of the sites due to erosion, considering it’s a beautiful federal recreation area, I wish they would invest where necessary to keep all of these sites open! Also the dump station needs some attention. It’s located on a hillside and can be difficult if not dangerous to dump your RV tanks. I’ve been attending this campground since the early 1980’s and will continue to do so. I just wish they would do what’s necessary to make the place even better! All in all it’s a great place to stay!
