We were in the primitive areaand it certainly waswe left after one nightwe asked if any other spots were available when we checked inwell, I didnt even get my entire question out before I was abruptly told NO..when we left 2 days early after being there just a few hoursthey didnt ask whyacted like thismay happen quite a lotwe loved on 5 miles down the road to a water front site that was absolutely stunning and the staff were spectacularwe will not return to Canal

Always enjoy it at Canal. Good location, well maintained, very clean bath houses and great people running the gate house.

We stayed in the primitive section - had water and electric hookup. Was disappointed in the cleanliness of the campground overall. I mentioned to the camp hosts the first night and was told their garbage company does not clean up any thing that spills onto the ground and they cleaning team would pick it up. We stayed two night and never saw the trash picked up. Primitive section the sites have lots of shade while the newer sections have seem to be much closer together and more sun (will take the shade anytime). Overall was good but not a five star rating. Was the first COE or any campground where they checked our pass against the reservation number.

We had a nice time at Canal with the exception of no hand soap in the restrooms. There were also an extreme amount of ants in there as well.

This was a larger park then what we normally stay. Our spot was number 19. When we made our ressie there were only a few spots left. We read about the size camper the spot could accommodate. The description is not accurate. Upon arrival, we were told to go in the wrong direction and use 18 to back in. This was not good advice from park staff. We pull a 16 foot rv with a Nissan Frontier and almost couldnt get it in the spot(very stressful). We had to leave going out the wrong direction. Stressful if someone would have been going out the correct direction. We delayed leaving until it looked like most had left. The amount of golf carts driving around was annoying. The electric ones were ok but the gas motored ones just ruined the camping experience.

The campsite was well cared for. Clean restroom and showers. The staff very accommodating. We plan to camp there again.

We were there a very short time, so didn't do many things. Did discovered, at the Village Market, a Free little newspaper called THE LAKE LIGHT, which tells you everything that is going on & to do. Pick that up first. The campground was super & well maintained. Saw many people using golf carts to get around, not only at the campground but to go into the town or marina as well. Deer every where & not scared of picture taking. The Village Market has GREAT! food at the deli. Good prices on groceries as well. Best hamburger around, for sure. Missed the information on the Hummers coming in that weekend we left. If I had gotten the paper first, I would have stayed a day longer. We will be back next year! Too many things not to see......
