This is a recurring theme across every government facility I’ve been to. Trying to save money by hiring less people to maintain a place to clearly needs a big workforce. There’s a fenced off section by the entrance to C, D that looks like it hasn’t been painted in 20 years.
All the grass that goes down to the water should be cut, so there’s no ticks for the people parking their boats on the shore.
One thing I will give it a positive is the sites are beautiful and the views are awesome! Although my camping experience was miserable! A group of people kept walking through my campsite to get to their boats. I figured they would at least go around and got an attitude when I asked them to go around. Their kids were out, throwing rocks in the road and one of them hit my truck and took a chunk out of my paint. Whatever happened to the Park Ranger? Oh, and that same group would build campfires on sites that weren’t occupied for the night. I had honestly never seen this before and I’ve been camping for almost 50 years.
Now the worst part, trying to get a reservation. I’ve had so many people tell me they can’t get any reservations, but when I got to the campsite there were 3 sections completely open! I was told they keep them closed for a numbers game when it comes to funding which is just wrong. Open up all the sites and let people make the reservations and I guarantee you they will make money. This facility needs to hire a proper maintenance crew and fix up this poor dilapidated park!
Mike and bunny have always been great to deal with!
