Outlet Melvern is very peaceful. The park is mostly flat, with many walking/bike paths.

We tent camped at the outlet area with our daughter's family for the weekend. Grandpa took the 3 grandkids bait fishing in the afternoon and the two older kids caught perch, but the younger one didn't have any luck. So Grandpa said he would get the first try at catfish that night. He did! Fred the Fisherman (Grandpa) helped hold the pole as his 8-year-old grandson reeled in a 19 lb. 1 oz. channel. His older brother and dad netted the fish. Grandpa was so proud he had tears in his eyes. After pictures, they released the fish so someone else could catch it.

We were in C-Loop, 141, next to the Bathhouse. The campgrounds were neat and clean, and freshly mowed. The fishing dock was closed fir some reason and the swim area was closed due to algae blooms. We always enjoy eating pizza at Buzzards Pizza in Lyndon (14 miles from Melvern Lake) on our way to Melvern. The pizza is great! We enjoy going to the truckstop at BETO Junction (Burlingame, Emporia, Topeka, Ottawa) for breakfast our last day out at the lake before we head home. Because it was almost 100 degrees, we spent one day at the Waterpark in Emporia about 30 miles down Hwy 35.

Love Melvern Lake Outlet C-Loop. Beautiful old trees, privacy, spacious sites, nice trails & playground equipment. Unfortunately, because it's so nice, it's hard to get a spot on the water.

We had our lot secured and paid for. For physical reasons we could not arrive on time. My husband drove 45 minutes away to check in and explain. When we arrived in the middle of the night someone was in our lot space. We had to pull in another another space. We found out the lady at the check in gave our lot away. My husband ended up having to move us 4 different times. It was a lot of work and interfered with our fishing time and relaxation. We were told they would refund our money which did not happen. This time was hardship. I have a broken leg which also was a big injustice to us. Darlene and Charles Atchison
