With a camp host this would help improving getting campsites. There was no camp host at Cottonwood Point. Making reservations is an issue for some camp site you have to wait four days before you want the site. Then there were camp sites reserved but no one were using them. This is a great camping area on Marion and we like to camp there with our friends.

Cottonwood Point is our favorite campground. We are retired and can enjoy camping during the week, leaving weekends for those still working. We were surprised how few people were camping while we were there (9/7-11). There are a whole bunch of people missing out on one of the best campgrounds in Kansas.

No one at the gate. Only saw one ranger during our 8 day stay. Now they tell us we can't reserve a spot more than four days ahead. Ceiling falling down in the handicapped shower in the men's shower room, and 30 amp electricity in our spot didn't work. No one ever addressed any of these problems. Probably won't be back.

Great place to camp. Many FHU sites, all right on the water or at least with a close view. Large well spaced sites that are fairly level. Utilities are excellent with 50/30/20 amp and water as well as sewer in the sites numbered 95 and higher. Friendly camp hosts. Grounds were well maintained on our visit. Shower houses are new and nice. Hillsboro and Marion are nearby with hardware stores, grocery, Sonic Drive In, Pizza Hut, etc. The new area with FHU has less shade than the older area, but there are some trees in most every site. Verizon signal good, and OTA TV offers many channels.

I was in spot 98. Everything was okay except the back side of the RV was next to a wooded area with sitting water. It was really, really infested with mosquitoes. They attacked in number as the RV was being set up. Wooded area should be sprayed to control the mosquitoes.
