Would have been 5 if they were a bit more clear about which spots you could reasonably use a rooftop tent in. Lots of spots require you to walk 50-100m from where you parked because they have these big boulders blocking, so car camping isnt ideal in many spots. However all those same spots say roof top tent camping is ok. Like yes its fine but if you have to walk that far to your table and fire pit its going to be less of a good time than it could be.

A gorgeous campsite with good flat space and plenty of parking. The trails were amazing, the rocks were made for scrambling, and the night sky was gorgeous. Bathroom was clean and trash was well taken care of.

Your images do not show the reality for campervans. Imagine My surprise when I got there and just barely had enough room to park. The pics on the website are quite deceiving, making it appear as though a person has a large space to park their vehicle and have a table and lovely surroundings next to boulders. Instead we are smashed in like sardines and have to haul our cooking and other equipment to the spot you show.

It was great other than finding an unattended vehicle sprawled out all over the reserved campsite. Luckily we found another at sunset and also luckily no one came by to claim the only empty one we found. Unneeded stress from some off-roader douches

Our parking spot was NOT next to my camping spot, which makes the experience non-repeatable, especially since we were in a CamperVan.
There are other spots which are more ideal, but #98, I would avoid.

The campsite # 98 that i was in was so close to the one next to me. Seriously their tent was 6 feet from the grill in my site. There was noise and super bright flashlights that made star gazing and relaxation near impossible. The people that were next to me actually setup 2 tents in this tiny campsite #97, problem was they put their second tent in the little space available for a tent in my site. I had to set my tent up right next to the pathway to 3 other sites so people were walking right next to my tent all through the day and into the night. There is nothing in the campground description or picture to make a person aware of the situation. In all my years of camping this was the worst campsite I have ever been to.

Gorgeous sites, quiet during the weekdays, great getaway from the buzz of the National park. Could be pretty windy some night so check the weather beforehand.

Indian Cove Campground is my favorite at Joshua Tree. It's so beautiful. The sites are very clean and private. It's very easy to find and a quick drive to food and other shops.
