Beautiful campground. Gorgeous rock formations everywhere you turn. I would rate site 59 4/5.Pros:-Close enough to a very clean bathroom-You only have one neighbor to your right and to the left and back are huge boulders which offers some privacyCons:-too close to your neighbor on the right-your tent site is on a grade that can fit a 2 person tent which is what we used-there was a possible bigger more level tent site closer to our neighbors but wasnt clear if if it belonged to their campsite or ours. If we would have used it, our neighbors would have been 4 feet away from our neighbors tent. Would I come here again? Yes to the campground but will seek another tent site in the future.

Site 59. Excellent afternoon shade in a protected cove. Restroom nearby but not so close that you catch a whiff. Set up a 4 person tent with plenty of room.

Campgrounds were spectacular locations. Things are hurting with staffing at the entrance gates and maintenance of facilities....

We had an excellent campsite and superb weather in the last week of April. Indian Cove is at the end of a road that does not connect with most of the rest of Joshua Tree NP roads. It's quiet and remote in and amongst the picturesque hill you expect at Joshua Tree. Our site was smack up against a 100 ft. cliff which gave shade in the afternoon. Campsites there are rather close together, which dimmed things a bit. The road in is fine but rapidly deteriorates into rutted dirt with decaying 60 y/o asphalt. Bring you own water, but there are barbecues, fire rings, cement picnic tables, and nearby vault toilets.

Campgrounds were very nice. Everything was well taken care of, the bathrooms were immaculate. What I liked about Indian Cove compared to the other sites within the park is theres a lot of space between the sites themselves and then the grouping of each of the sites theres only about four or five and then a distance to the next group so that was really pleasant. It is a drawback that you have to go through the entrance gate and drive into the park every day, but we enjoyed the campsite itself very much.

Nice campground in close proximity to Joshua Tree. It really has stunning views and a nicely maintained nature trail. We had site 59 and really liked the fact that one side of the camp site had rocks for the ambiance and privacy. Nobody was at the ranger station so be prepared to get your firewood in advance. Convenience store is located at the main road intersection but the wood is quite pricey. Overall a great experience.

We loved our time at Indian Cove. We book the last available campsite the week before our stay. We stayed at site 59 and our only complaint is that it got dark early because of the rocks and the direction of the sun. We only had direct sunlight from about 9am-12pm. Most other sites at the campground have longer direct sun hours. As for availability.I noticed that the campsite said full when we arrived, and all of the campsites said reserved on the posts, but no one ever came to stay in at least 30% of them. The reservation website also showed them as reserved. I hope they fix this process in the future so the campsites arent inaccurately marked as booked and there are no shows. Only saw a ranger once a day, early in the morning. Essentially no cell service with T-Mobile. There were a couple spots of 5G walking toward Day Use Parking. Hiking is great. Bouldering is great. Scenery is beautiful. We experienced a pretty bad wind storm one of the nights, so be warned if you are tent camping. Joshua Tree is incredible. You can get there by hiking in or you can leave the campground and enter through the park entrances. I recommend the North entrance. It is significantly less busy. Campsites are smaller than some other places Ive stayed, but are some of the largest sites in Joshua Tree. Compared to Jumbo Rocks, Hidden Valley, Belle, and the other sites in the park, Indian Cove feels the most spacious. The fire pits are soooo nice! We cooked almost every meal on the fire. Star gazing is amazing. Grab a couple blankets and find a flat rock. You may just want to sleep there. Enjoy!

Nice and quiet with not many other campers around as we were there midweek (11/28-12/1). Very cold at night but we were nice and toasty next to the fire. We were at #59 site along side a huge rock which was in shade already by noon. Might be a better site in warmer weather as next time we camp there in the winter we will want a site with more sunlight in the morning and afternoon. Awesome surroundings with all the rock formations!

The site and area was beautiful.. The ranger wasnt there at all for the entire time we were there. Because we had some very unruly drunk guys pacing up and down our loop yelling and fighting from 11pm tell 4 am. Which made us very uncomfortable.

I went for just a night for my birthday and it was a blast! Such a pretty campground and the scenery was beautiful. The site itself #59 was perfectly hidden in the rocks but still close to the bathroom!

I absolutely love Indian Cove. The setting is gorgeous and most sites, while fairly close together, feel private because of the way they are cradled up against the boulders. Sound does carry like crazy here, so you may be privy to conversations you weren’t expecting to hear.
I tent camped in site 59 and it was perfect for my needs. It got windy one night, which was an adventure. Pit toilets are adequate, but you need to feel comfortable getting a bit grubby while here. To me, the desert vistas, bird and plant life, and wide open skies are a great trade off!

Well laid out camp ground with clean facilities. My campsite was next to the giant boulders which made it really interesting, albeit I was a bit nervous about a giant boulder falling loose and crushing us! Being somewhat close to the main highway was a plus too.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
