Beautiful campground! Magical evenings & mornings. The Nature Loop Trail had many birds & was a great early morning destination.

The site 052 easily fit our 24 travel trailer unhitched from 20 truck so they could be parked on the gravel pad slightly overlapping but off the loop road. Expect to use the backside (drivers side) of your camper for shade in the afternoon if you are enjoying the outside. Beautiful views of the rocks from the site! No cell service using AT&T. Get water at check in entering main road as there is none in campground. Great place!

My rating was based on:Beautiful campground. Spectacular when surrounded by rocks. Some sites are close to neighbors. Many sites won't accommodate a trailer. No water within the campground. Their is water at the ranger station outside the campground. Some people drive way too fast through the campground. Many respect their fellow campers and drive slow so they don't raise a cloud of dust in their wake.Separate from the main entrances to the park.

A great place to stay! Beautifully positioned between the boulders and rocks. The only problem is to find out, which sites are still available when you come spontaneously and dont have Wi-Fi, as each site is marked reserved with a fixed sign. We had the problem at a different place before (this one we had booked in advance).

Small campground. My site was fairly private, blocked by rocks. There is a group site clear on the other side of the campground, and they were extremely noisy the entire day and most of the night. Because this campground is easy to access, it seems to cater to more of a loud, party crowd. A weeknight might have been quieter. I liked how close I could park to my site.

Wow, what a beautiful place. October is a fantastic time to visit Joshua Tree, and our stay at Indian Cove was magical. We have a 23-foot travel trailer and site 52 worked out well. We had plenty of room and a great view.

It is very desolate and secluded. This was fine until our 2nd day there. Late in the afternoon a creepy old van pulled very slowly past our campsite, then stopped in the road. A man stepped out of the van, walked back down the road, then turned to me and said that he drank too much apple juice and needed to use the restroom (why he didnt stop at the restroom, but waited until after he drove past our campsite could not be reconciled). On his way back to his van he tried to make conversation. He had straggly hair, no teeth to speak of, and looked super sketchy. About that time, my husband returned from town and the scraggly guy had moved up the road from us, but was again out of his van sitting on the rear bumper staring back down the road towards our site. My husband parked, and went to go talk to Mr Apple Juice, but he and his hand painted old van were gone. It was really creepy. We packed up our campsite and were able to get another spot at Jumbo Rocks where it feels a whole lot safer. There are no rangers or hosts at Indian Cove. It is only a few miles out of town so easily accessible by anyone willing to make a quick drive up the hill. Too bad, its beautiful but too scary for me.

Campsite was nestled amongst the rocks and offered good privacy and distance from other campers. Pit toilets were clean and smell free. Site was level and sandy base. Campground was clean and tidy.

Bathrooms are immaculate. Picnic/camping site also clean and in good repair. Enjoyed the nature walk at the back of the area, with signs about the wildlife and plants.Big problem: I drove up to my assigned single site (I was camping alone on this trip) to find next door, and the next "single" site was a small city of tents. Apparently a huge team of 6th graders was spending the night for an outdoor field trip. The adult leader said that they were reserved for the group site down the road, however the ranger instructed them to NOT use the group site but to jam into the area for individual campers. No way was I going to camp next to 700 sixth graders in the desert. I drove away to find an unreserved spot farther away. This is a HUGE MISS by either you guys or the local ranger. You should put together a ticket or investigation to see what happened. If someone screwed up, they could do so again.
We loved Indian Cove. We were the only ones on the entire campsite during the middle of the week. Hiking was great - Boy Scout Trail, Rattlesnake Canyon bouldering, and 29 Palms. Site was clean, rangers were helpful, and setting is truly serene.
It is worth visting the Visitors Centre - helpful ideas, interesting history, well presented.

The campsite is great! Unfortunately the streets were dusty and the cars were going too fast. Because of this, everything was full of dust. Too bad.

Indian Cove is my favorite campground to stay in when I visit Joshua Tree. The boulders naturally create privacy between campsites and most spaces are huge.

We stayed in space 52 with a 24-foot trailer. Nice spot and clean pit pit toilets. The only negative was the people shrieking and drumming in the middle of the night.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
