So beautiful here! Spacious sites with dramatic rock backdrops. Plenty of toilets. Amazing opportunities to stargaze. Bonus was being able to watch rock climbers do their thing from my site! Will stay here again.

Very clean and beautiful site. Not too far off the road but you felt very secluded.

Beautiful area full of rocks and landscape. We went in May and the weather was just right. I would definitely recommend this place.

We really enjoyed Indian Cove campground. The sites are spread out and there are no more than five in each turnout. We drove through the other campgrounds in the park, and thought none were as pleasant as Indian Cove. Of course, Indian Cove is not inside the park proper. You have to return to the highway and drive to the entrance in Twenty Nine Palms and if you don't go early you may have long lines. The restrooms were keep immaculate. We drove to the end of the campground and took the nature walk. Very pleasant. Also one of the trailheads to the Boy Scout Trail are in the park, near the ranger station. The is a nice and flat walk up to the rocks.

Indian Cove is a beautiful campsite with lots of boulders to climb. The nature trail is short, but scenic. The trail head to 49 Palms Oasis is a short drive away. The Oasis of Mara is also worth a visit. There are several great hikes from Black Rock Campground which is only about 20 miles from Indian Cove.

Everything was fantastic, only problem was the super smelly bathroom not far from our site, from which foul odors did waft... for several days, regardless of park staff cleaning the bathroom. We were in a site very near the main campground intersection, which gets lots of usage from campers and day use climbers. Love Indian Cove anyways, though.

Site was very nice. Out particular site had plenty of room for our tent. We stayed after storms came through so campground was pretty empty. Vault toilet was clean. Great stay.

Enjoyed the location of this campground (midway between 29 Palms and Joshua Tree) and combination of camping sites and rock climbing areas so we could watch the enthusiastic and talented climbers. Skies were beautiful at night. Campsite #24 was protected from the wind by a great rock formation. Next time I will choose a campsite around the back of one of the loops for more privacy and quiet. We planned to hike the Boy Scout Trail, with a trailhead just outside the campground but learned that we would get a shorter (7 miles vs 14) and more scenic hike if we started from the Boy Scout trailhead inside the West entrance to the park. The hike via Boy Scout Trail to Willow Hole was beautiful.

This is my favorite place to stay in JTree. We were not climbers. This one is SO much quicker to access than others inside the main park. And its every bit as remote-feeling and quiet with sites nestled among huge rock formations great for kiddos to scramble. The rocks also form wind breaks which can be really important. We typically tent camp. Bring water and shade and shoes with good grip. Some doggies might be sensitive to the gravel ground. The rock shards are sharp and have torn up the paws of my smaller dogs after a couple days. No biting bugs. :)

The toilet near our camp (24) was a bit smelly. Others slightly further away were better. So we ended up using these.

Beautiful campground set at the base of amazing rock fields. Space between sites is generous, campground is quiet, and pit toilets are clean.

Our family has a tradition of camping in Indian Cove Campgrounds during President's weekend. My boys LOVE scrambling on all the rocks in the large campground. It is beautiful and we look forward to it every year.

I arrived at 4:10pm to check in, and office was already closed. I looked at the road sign to see which way to go to get to my campsite #24, only to find the road sign only gave directions for campsites 1-18, 19-21, 25-29. No help there. After locating the site, I started unloading, and I was disappointed to hear jets flying overhead at the rate of 4-5 per hour. So much for peace and quiet. I didn't know that Indian Cove and Joshua Tree are right next to town of Twentynine Palms, home to a large Marine base. Got awakened at 6:10am Wednesday morning by a garbage truck, coming to empty the dumpster bin, and then a half hour later on it's way back out. Stargazing was a major disappointment, and was what I came here for. I can see more stars in my backyard in El Cajon, CA. I even drove to a remote spot (Rattlesnake something). But even this wasn't enough to get away from the lights of 29 Palms. I don't think I'll be coming back.
