Great campground! I unfortunately had climbers walking through my camp spot all day, as I was kind of in the path to a great climbing spot. Check before you setup - I had to move my tent about 10 feet. I'd go again to the same spot 6 in a heartbeat.

The park was very clean. I was nervous about the composting toilets, I've only used them once and it was terrible. But here they were cleaner, the smell wasn't as overpowering, which is surprising from the heat.

Awesome site and awesome campground. Would definitely recommend. More space and arguably more to explore here than Jumbo Rocks Campground. This particular site has a lot of space and backs right up to some places to explore. Only downfall is that its close to the entrance so you do get some traffic with latecomers/early risers

Loved this spot, very convenient for park access and access to the town. Tons of beautiful rocks to climb for views. Climbers come around early in the morning so be prepped that youll have some fun company near by once the sun comes up :) 10/10 would stay here again.

Beautiful, secluded, comfortable, and well-maintained! Sits against one of the coolest rock formations in the park. We had a brief visit from a desert mouse but no other animal encounters.Note that you cant drive your car into the campsite (there are large rocks separating the parking spot from the camping area), so any car-tent or car-tarp combos will be difficult to use. Slippery downslope between parking spot and tent area may be difficult for folks with mobility issues to navigate. Additionally, rock climbers may need to walk through this site to climb the rock faces behind it.A short walk to cell service if you care about that.

Beautiful, pristine site. Unique. We were there on the weekend. Quite a few climbers. They were considerate, and passed through, but did not intrude.

Great campground at a little lower altitude with plenty of surrounding boulders to scramble and also rope climb. Conveniently close (15 mins) to civilization in case you forgot anything or want to eat in town.

The campsite was clean, with adequate space. Fellow campers followed quite hour rules. The pit toilet bathrooms were clean. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the chemical in the pit toilets was powerful, and in some of them, it was uncomfortable to breathe. Great site, would stay at this campground again.

Love site #3, have had it several times. Quiet campground, pit toliets were clean. Lots of hikes in JT close by. Campground is a few miles from any services, no cell til about 1 mile away. Food, beer, firewood, just 8 minutes away. The Panorama Trail is fantastic, don't miss Face rock, a bit off from Skull Rock.

Camp site stolen by rock climbers, ranger was useless in helping us. We arrived to our campsite (#3) at 2:45pm and there were tents in our spot. The Joshua Tree climbing club was parked in our spot. The ranger station was already closed for the day. We drove around looking for a camp host no where to be found. Finally found a ranger who said she has no idea because the camp sites are run separately. About an hour later the people who reserved campsite 2 showed up and were just as baffled as we were that some one else set up in our spot. We decided to set up camp because as far as we were concerned we had a reservation. A climber came up to us and told us sites 2&3 are theres all year round and never go on sale to the public. Obviously a lie because two separate parties arrived with reservations. The ranger than came back to us to let us know they double booked and we needed to move our stuff. Why did we need to move? I never saw a reservation confirmation from the climbers who stole our site. It seems like a common problem at this campground. It is poorly run and there are obvious signs of miscommunication everywhere. Avoid at all costs. These people were the definition of inconsiderate and disrespectful.

The campground was empty so we had it all to ourselves, which made our night even more magical given the beautiful location of the campground !

I went during the off season so it was very hot during the day, but it was worth it for the gorgeous view of the stars after nightfall. A clean and quiet campground worth your time if you enjoy desert camping.

Camping site #3 is primo. Spacious with several level spots to pitch your tent. Fairly private. Great rock hiking, climbing, scrambling right in back of site.

This place is incredible. We stayed 2 nights and it was definitely the best camping experience we've ever had. There are no showers, no running water and flushing toilets but that didn't really matter when you're in such incredible surroundings with so much climbing and exploring to do. Joshua Tree Town is about a 15 minute drive and has a decent saloon bar and some shops etc for supplies. We would definitely come back here again.

A beautiful park and campground! When they say less than 20 rigs, they mean it! A great place for rock climbing and outdoor activities. Bring your solar panels and a sense of adventure!!
